Nasty storm just came through ...thunder lightening & hail :yikes: ...ran out and threw some towels over the hood of my truck :( hope it helped to dampen the blows of the hail ...

hey J watch out it's on it's way to you :inspector:

Yeah, that's the same storm system that gave us 6" of show yesterday... snowed for 11 hours!!!! Also had some THUNDERSNOW!!!

I'm ready for some warm weather!!!!

Keep those rides covered!:D

Hope you avoided damage Steve

Hail has become such a common occurrence here that we keep moving blankets on hand just for the occasion. Seems the past few years it has been getting worse. This was from one of last years storms, ended up doing over 15K damage to our house, broken skylights, damaged roof etc...

I never thought of it either. And my neighbors KNOW I'm nuts, so I guess that would validate their assumption. :hmmm:

we validate :D ...:hmmm: now that i think about it..that was parking :notme:

putting on the blankets does help, but there's more to my blanket method now.............. I may just win the nuts award for this one :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::

Since then, I have bought a car cover, and a large piece of soft terry cloth material. If we hear that a storm is coming, we cover the car first with the terry cloth, then put down two layers of folded over padded blankets, then I top that with two layers of high density closed cell foam ( stuff I had left over when I did some interior work), that all gets topped off with the car cover. So far so good....

The two layers of blankets alone protected the car from close to golf ball size hail. In that picture from earlier we only had one folded blanket on the back and still got one half dollar size dent that cracked the paint. The rest of the car was saved.

You guys are all :crazy2: . I just pull my car under the carport, lol. Hail storms freak me out too. We've been getting hail every year lately the past few years. It used to be an anomaly, but its a given that we'll have a few storms a year now. Lakes are the major culprit around here tho. :inspector:

Great idea! :dnaughty
