So I've been searching around for a nice buffer for my personal car and maybe detailing as a side business.

1) Meguiars G110- [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G110-Dual-Action-Polisher/dp/B001O7I7MQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1253821453&sr=8-1]Amazon.com: Meguiar's G110 Dual Action Polisher: Automotive[/ame]

2) PC 7424XP- Porter cable 7424xp, 7424xp, Porter Cable 7424XP Dual Action Polisher, Porter Cable polisher, car polisher, buffer, sander-polisher

3) UDM XP- Porter Cable 7424 XP Dual Action Car Polisher Auto Buffer

So here are my questions... Looks like for the Megs and PC7424xp I need to buy the backing plate serparately... Also will need new pads.

For the Megs G110 I was going to purchase that along with the 2 options near the center of the page for the W8006 and W9006. Or should I just get some LAke Country pads?

So many choices... so confused.. haha

Any help would be nice on choosing a buffer...

UDM XP is a bargain at 105 right now, and it includes the backing plate. It is the exact same machine as the Porter Cable XP just has a sticker and backing plate.

yeh.. Thats what I thought... The UD XP is on an amazing deal... I"ll pick up some pads with it too....

I was looking at Autogeek.net... and they have 5.5" Lake Country Pads and 6.5" and 4" ones....

I was thinking going right inbetween and using the 5.5" or even the 4".. I like the smaller ones b/c I think I would have more control and easier to use?

What colors would you guys recommend? I think I'm going to go with the 6 pack so I can chose whatever colors I want...

pad colors i would go with are:

Orange, White, & Black . . . . . that is just me though.

The smaller the pad the better the correction as it will spin faster but usually 5.5" is the most common size used with Porter Cables.

Yeh, thats what someone else recommended too.

Ok so.. On Autogeek.net I can get a 6 pack.. 2 of each color for Total =$44.94

OR I can get 3 of each color... total of 9 for $57.96...

do I need 3 of each? worth it?

These pads can be cleaned anyways... so I'm leaning towards just the 6 pack... But can 1 pad finish the whole car at 5.5" ??

None of the above - I'd go with a Flex - decent correction and a minimal learning curve (just don't do anything stupid, like using power gloss, on speed 6, with a yellow pad, hammering 1 area, haha)

Flex is a bit out of the budget for now...

anyways.. I'm still working on the colors of the LC pads actually..

I know I'm going to need the Orange ones... but maybe not the white ones... and for sure need Grey ones for the Megs #7... and maybe a Blue or Red for the Gold Class Wax or NXT 2.0... So which? Blue or red? haha

SoCalB6 has some 5.5" LC CCS pads for cheap, and they are brand new. here's a link to the classifieds...
