I got mine today
Having 2 issues

1 I thread the counter balances till motor moves, followed by the backing plate..turn on and whole things comes off after a few seconds
Only does this with the counter weights
Backing plate stays attached to counter weight and counter weight untreads while machine is running

If I thread in green adapter and brush, it stays attached

Other issues is the direct drive button doesn`t engage/stay down
With red counter weight I can push button down, but it doesn`t lock in and just pops up when I release pressure
With blue counter weight it won`t even let me push button down..
This is with it on off position

Did everyone that received theirs have 2 empty circles in their case too?

There is a double sided spanner wrench included in the kit. The narrow side of the spanner wrench is designed to tighten your chosen backing plate to the eccentric set (counter weight). The wide part of the spanner wrench is designed to tighten the eccentric set to the tool. If you are only going finger tight on the eccentric set, when you release the throttle the deceleration is causing it to loosen. You have to use to the spanner to tighten them.

Yes, because the rotary drive doesn`t have the momentum to allow the sets to loosen when you release the throttle. Again, the spanner wrench is included to ensure the connection is secure.

I`m assuming you mean the transmission lock on the top of the tool? This button is only used to lock the tool when you tighten or loosen the eccentric sets using the spanner wrench. It should pop up when released and it should prevent the tool from rotating when its pressed down. If you can`t press it down, lightly rotate the assembly like 1/1000th of an inch (with the spanner wrench) and it will engage. You are just getting caught up between gears so the lock cannot slide down.

Yes.

Todd - Thanks so much for your help with this !

Were there no instructions included in the box ?

I used the spanner wrench, didn`t know about the top button to lock it,(thought that was the button to lock the shaft)

If button doesn`t push in from start for anyone, just keep turning witu the spanner wrench and it shall eventually push in to lock

So back to rotory mode
How come no rotary velco backing plate ..rubber isnfor the sanding discs I imagine.

It came with directions, I just opened it quickly before work so didn`t bother with directions
Well problem solved...user error

There is a rotary backing plate.... Your tool should have 3 backing plates. A 50mm backing plate for the larger pads designed to be used with the 12mm random orbital function. A 30mm velcro backing plate which can be used on all three movemnts (3 mm, 12 mm, and rotary) and a rubber backing plate to be used on the 3mm (or 12mm) random orbital functions for sanding. Your kit didn`t include 1 30 mm velcro backing plate?

Yeah, that`s how it came sadly
And yes def weird

I`ll PM Nick Again

That close up of the damage shows it came like that from the factory..
The cracked edges are painted - see --

If this crack had happened after the machine was delivered, those edges would not be painted..

Hard to believe it went all the way through and then through QC and got put in a box..

Hopefully, it was just a fluke..

I remember way back when it was always bad to buy a new Bimmer that had been assembled on a Friday... :)
