"Mystery Products" not K, Z or BF but NYD's (LONG)

Well anyone who has tried them knows that klasse, zaino and blackfire are all great products. I personally own them all (and many others) and love each one. But, i'm always out trying new stuff. I've also been looking into starting up a small detailing business, so i thought about trying something more known as a professional product.

NYD (NY detailer http://www.nyperfectdetailing.com/ ) sold me some of the products he distributes in the New York Area. They are products ment for profesional use. They don't come in a fancy bottle with a nice package. Infact, i couldn't even tell you what brand they are because it doesn't seem to say. But, they do come in 32 oz sizes, and cost just a little more than most other fine products. (though the $$/oz ratio is much nicer). Here's what i got:

From left to right the 4 products are:

QD Spray

Tire spray

Foam Pad Machine Glaze

Final Polish

here is the test car, a 2001 Ford Focus, dark blue in color:

The Tire spray and QD are self explanitory. The other two products i was a little confused on (the Machine Glaze and Final Polish). Initially the closest line i would of compared them to was Klasse AIO and SG. Though know i know it's closer to AIO and BF Polish. But really these products aren't much like anything else.

MACHINE GLAZE:

Straight from the bottle the Maching Glaze (MG) states it has: Synthetic and chemical cleaners, durable polymeric materials and a 'space age paint sealent.'" It's purpose is to "remove medium to heavy oxidation and minor scratches. Cleans and protects the surface in one easy step." It seems like the AIO in that it has cleaning properties, and a mild abrasive. But it also has protectants and sealents.

I used the product with my PC and a Meguiars cutting pad (after talking with Jason about what to do). It went on easy and broke up nicely. I would say applying it is very similiar to SMR. But on the other hand it was really easy to remove, like BF.

Overal i didn't notice too much of a visual difference. The car is newer so it didn't have to many 'minor swirls' to remove, and the car was washed before hand. The MG did do a good job removing some of the water spots that were left behind after washing. Overall i would say it's a cleaning product to be used before sealing just to make sure the paint is 100% clean before waxing. No it doesn't remove swirls like SMR, but as you'll see next it doesn't need to.

FINAL POLISH:

This product took my breath away. It smells nice and worked better than anything like it i've seen.

from the bottle- "Final Polish is a long lasting finish wax. This product removes light oxidation, polishes, brightens and adds depth to dark colors."

I applied this much like i would of BF polish or PPCL. Just put some on a polishing pad and worked it around the paint, then buffed right off (NOTE: NYD said it can be left on a little longer). Man does this stuff smell good! When the PC is having at the product it fills the room with a nice aroma. It's worth trying just for the smell. Again it was very easy to work in, and very easy to remove.

The results were stunning. This product effectivly hid just about every swirl and imperfection in the paint. I've used PPCL and was amazed at how that covered things up... i would rate this product no more than 5x superior. Yet it also doesn't seem to be your typical cheap detail shop glaze to cover up imperfections. The bottle states that it has long lasting pollymers. I would assume it's sort of like BF polish and BF paint protectant mixed into one product. I really want to expirament with it and see if it can be layerd for even more results.

The product also left a very smooth and very shiny surface. I would assume that at this point you could stop... but i decided to coat it with a natural wax (per Jason's and NYD's advice). I chose to go with some Souveren. Now we all know that souveren is amazing, and i didn't want people thinking the end results were just due to the souveren, so i took some pics after i was done with the products, before i did the wax. Here they are:

You can see in some of those pics (after i had it in the garage) how the tire spray worked. It really did make a noticble change in the tires. They did look good. I'm a little curious as to the durability (as you'll see). But it seems to work rather well.

At this point i put a quick coat of souvern on and it became too dark to get any decent pictures. I asked my friend to come back the next day during the daylight and he agreed. Normally when i use Souveren i notice a huge difference in the overall appearence of the vehicle. On this car i did not. I'm not sure if it was due to the poor ammount of the light, the paint color or what... but just an observation. It's almost like the products i used before were able to accomplish a lot of what souveren does.

The next day the focus comes back and it had some water spots from rain overnight. Perfect i thought, a chance to try the QD. The garage wasn't free so i had to do it on a dark car in direct sunlight. From my expierences some QDs are very picky about this. When ever i tried to use my Z6 outside in the sun on my black civic, the product would dry instantly and leave a nasty residue and i'd have to wash with Z7 to get it all off.

This was the first chance since the process that i had to see the car in direct sunlight. The car has been taken care of and only had 11,000 miles. Needless to say the swirls were quite minimal. But they did exist. As for how bad, i'd have to say they extended to a circle about 6-8 inches away from the reflection of the sun in the paint. The Final polish really did an awesome job at filling in what was left. In the direct sun it was hard to find any of the swirls on the car. There were still a little marring in the paint, but the improvment was amazing.

The QD spray also smells good (like bubble gum). I first dusted the car lightly with my cali duster. Than did the standered QD procedure with a green MF. Even with the surface of the vehicle very hot, the QD did not leave a residue like the Z6 does. I was impressed. A QD i could use on my car when the sun was out and there wasn't any shade. It also did a great job of cleaning the residue left from the water spots. The shine was enhanced a little, but nothing too amazing. The final results.....

You can see how the tire's aren't quite as dark as they were. But i'm not sure what caused this. Right before he brought it over the 2nd time for the QD and final pics, he took it to the dealer for the check engine light. He said they rotated the tires and might of used something on them (there was some residue in the wheel wells), (yes he did tell them not to do a curtosy wash). The tires still looked good, just not quite as they did originally.

CONCLUSION:

Overall i'm very impressed with the final results. And keep in mind that those last shots are the next day, after the car was rained on. I'm not totally sure of the purpose of the MG, it did have much of a visual enhancement, but it is probably more of a prep step to make the Final Polish work better. The Final Polish is an amazing product. I am really curious as to how well it holds up over the next few months. The QD is also a great product, a QD that works and can be used in the sun. The tire spray looks good, though probably doesn't hold out quite as long as some of the gels like Forever Black. Then again with 32 oz of the stuff you can spray quite often. I am very happy with all the products. It was just a reminder that there is a lot more out there than what's discussed here. If anyone wants to try some of the products just talk to NYD or visit his website and i'm sure he'll let you know how you can get them. If anyone else has any products they like let me know. I want to try as many as i can.

Best of all the whole process only took about 2 and a half hours. The products are also quite cheap compared to most. Plus a 32 oz quantity will last most people quite a while. I think these products would be great for someone who details a lot, but doesn't necessarliy have a lot of extra money to be spending on products for everyone. But also cheap in price doesn't mean bad quality. I've found these (so far) to be great in many ways.. i'd easily put them up there with BF, K, Z, Pinacle, P21S and others... or so i would if i could figure out what the brand's name is...

I am curious as to the durability so i will do a follow up. I also want to try them on another car... the target, my black civic tomorrow. The Z is comming off and the ____(still don't know the brand...) is going on. I'll post with additional comments on a 2nd look. If anyone has any questions about something i didnt' cover please let me know ASAP so i can try and get the answers as i'm doing mine tomorrow. I don't mind expiramenting with my car... heck that's what it's for.

LESSON:

There are a lot of good products out there. It's not a matter of which is the best, but which do you want to use.

Please keep in mind that NYD does not produce the products and does not base his source of income on selling them. He did not send me the products as a free sample so i would write a good review for him. He is a distributer, so i paid him for the products just like any customer would. I asked him what kind of products are used in a professional shop/setting and this is what he recomended. I used them with an open mind and no bias what so ever. All what i have wrote has been my observations, and i think the pictures back up the results. He wanted me to write an honest review about what i think, and that's what this is. If anyone else has something they think is good, please let me know.

If life you get what you pay for, nothing more nothing less. Try buying a gallon of Liquid Glass.....$128.00....then over to zymol.com .......invest in some good stuff....then hit the road....stand out in the crowd......people will notice

The products are from a company called clean touch, he only sells this to high end body shops that car about the work. I hooked up with him one day and from then one i onlu used his products. Dont get me wrong, there are tons of good products out there but for being a pro detailer i need to think smart and cost effective. this gives me both and customers love it.

I am pretty sure Clean Touch is only a distributor of these products. www.carpolishes.com also sells them.

I haven't verified but believe the actual manufacturer of these products to be Finishkare owned by the "blacksheep" of the Meguiar family, Floyd Meguiar.

I agree, great review Dr. Jones! This reminds me of a thread created by one of our previous OG detailers, Beau…

Technique and patience

In conclusion, no matter what product you use, proper application, quality tools, and plenty of effort is far more importan than the product alone.

And leyland, I would have to disagree. A $42.50 jar of Zymol Carbon is no better than the $15 One Grand Blitz. Same with the $140 Zymol Concours and the equally wonderful $70 Pinnacle Souveran. Heck, even Ron Ketcham once said that there is little difference in ingredients between quality "bulk" products and our beloved "boutique" products. It's just the packaging, smells, marketing, and of course, price.

Happy detailing!

:)
