Mysterious SG HAZE

I think for the first time I'm getting that "infamous" SG hazing. It's not serious, but it's there. Go back with QD, and 10 minn I see more patches. QD, and the light changes, & I see more. Any theories?

Too many layers, too quick?

Black paint?

Curing time?

I'm gonna lay off for a couple of day's. Sit back & wait on my PUPP to arive.:nixweiss

PEACE

The key to SG is to use very very light coats. You may be putting it on a little to thick and it may be causing the haze. You want to wait at least one (1) hour for it cure before buffing.

I have found the best way to remove SG is with the two MF towel method. One damp then follow with a dry MF. Takes off all the SG and leaves no haze...

Hope it helps..

Maybe it's incomplete buffing off of the previous layer, or not enough curing time if it's cold or humid? Intel486 had a similar problem and I suggested the first reason above and it didn't help him though. No one still really knows why Klasse hazing happens. Some people get it, some don't. :nixweiss

I got the haze on my jet black car and ended up removing it and trying other products. Not sure how I got the haze but decided I wanted something easier to use. Just my .02

For all the times I've used SG I had a haze problem once and I traced it to my application. I just didn't let it cure long enough before applying next coat and it was a cold day back in late November.

I think that Pat meant 1 hour drying time before buffing, not cure time. It takes much longer to cure and a lot depends on weather conditions.

How many layers did you put on and how long was your drying and cure time?

X-MAN- Oh no! More SG problems! Besides the stuff we've already been over, I don't know what to say :nixweiss . You didn't have it after the first coat or two, did you? Other people have got it after a few coats when they didn't have it before.

I've never used it on black. Maybe that's it (assuming you didn't just put it on too thick).

I'm pretty much all out of ideas. Wait a few days, wash the car, and see what you have then. Good thing you ordered that PUPP when you did, huh?

I put 2nd coat after only 6 hours with no problems in a summer but not this time, learned the hard way  .

The color doesn't matter, my car is steel grey and I had a problem.

Washing won't help it either. I'd wait a week and put another coat, seemed to help a bit in my case but haze didn't disappear completely. I topped it with P21S and it was gone after a second application month later.

This is my first hazing problem too. There have been times in the past when it probably should have hazed, (heat, sun, pressed for time, ect.)

This last layer was my 4th. My "set" (drying) time has never been under 2hrs. My only therory is my curing time was not long enough. Too many layers in too few days.

The last layer has been on about 29hrs now. I've never put on more than 2 layers in a week. Not enough curing time. I think I'll check it out again on Tue. on the hood, top, & trunk and see how that flys. Either way , my PUPP should get here by Thu. or Fri. I'll have the haze taken care of by then. I definatly want to have the SG fully cured by the time the P gets here.

Sound like a plan?????

:wavey

Sounds like putting some topper on will help, so the PUPP plan should work out. With all the great products to choose from, why keep :wall . Glad I've been lucky with the SG, wish I were lucky with the BFII. But I'll always wonder how one can be "lucky" with this sort of thing...it just HAS to be some application detail, or people noticing things that others miss. Whatever!

:D No more haze!!

I think it was the curing time. (lack of) Too many layers, too fast.

It's pouring down here & rain is forcast through Tue. (SUCKS)

:( Guess I'll just kick back & wait for the PUPP to get here

Just a thought: Did you use AIO first? I once did a first coat of SG w/o AIO on my truck and got a haze. I put AIO on and then did SG and got no haze. Could it be that SG w/o AIO causes haze? :nixweiss

Well, for whatever reason it happened, I'm glad you fixed it! :xyxthumbs

I might deliberately try to get the haze this spring to see if I can nail down the reason, even though it'd be harder to detect on my silver paint...

As much as I liked AIO, I disliked KSG.

Just ordered SEPC to accompany my P21S. But, next fall I'm going to order find another polymer sealant to ride out the winter with.

Perhaps PUPP.

I tried SG for the first time tonight. Although the final result turned out nicely, I've never been so tired from buffing off any type of wax/sealant in my life. I tried using a dry MF, then a damp MF followed by a dry MF... the only thing that worked was using the Sonus QD, followed by two MFs...

BTW, Sonus and SG smell EXACTLY the same... is Sonus just SG + water??? If so, I think I'm gonna make my own QD out of it, as described by www.klassedirect.com .
