Ok, I'm going to be detailing out my 03 Black Ford Focus and my 04 Explorer Sporttrac. My Focus has some noticable swirl marks on the hood and very minor everywhere else. I've taken pretty good care of it. I'll be using my new PC for the job.

Car wash: QEW with two Wool Wash Mitts made by "The Perfect Shine"

Clay Bar by Pinnacle with Pinnacle Clay Lube (Allready Have)

Compound: Not sure if needed or what brand to buy

Swirl Remover: 3M Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colored Cars or Meguiar's No. 9 Swirl Remover. (Still not sure)

Cleaner/Polisher: BLACKFIRE Gloss Enhancing Polish or Sonüs Paintwork Cleanser (Not Sure which one)

Sealant: BLACKFIRE All Finish Paint Protection

BLACKFIRE Deep Gloss Spray

Top Coat: P21S Carnauba Wax

Sonüs Der Wunder Buffing Towel, Pkg/2

I'd like to get the Concours Buffing Towel & Ultimate Drying Towel, however, their not in stock as of now. Any other recommendations?

Finally, for my PC, I was looking at the Dual-Action Pad Kit or buying :

Sonüs DAS FlexPlate x1

Sonüs DAS Orange Foam Pad x1

Sonüs DAS Green Foam Pad x1

Sonüs DAS Blue Foam Pad x2

Sonüs DAS Grey Foam Pad x2

Sonüs DAS Buffing Bonnet x1

SonüsDer Wunder Wasche x1

HELLUVA shopping list huh? I'm ready to toss all that RainX and commercial junk I have. If anyone can point me in the right direction so I get the best bang for my buck, or just your own insight, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks a million in advance.

My wife is going to kill me. I have added most of this stuff up and figure it's going to cost me about $200.00 for all this stuff. Well, I can't see what she would really have to complain about, I'm HOME in the garage with my other wifes (Car and truck) and not out causing mischief. Besides, she gets the shinest truck in town to drive. :D

There was a recent thread in the product discussion forum that has a list of tons of MF suppliers. May wanna check a couple of them out for your needs. I have towels from PakShak and JT International and wouldn't hesitate to recommend either one.

Also, S100 carnuba wax is essentially the same as P21S, but half the price. You can pick it up at your local Harley dealership.

If #9 doesn't do the job, you'd probably want to move up to something like #83 DACP.

I like the SONUS Der Wonder Drying Towels. You get two towels and they are really nice with a hemmed edge and excellent drying ability. Hey, if you don't like them they have a money back guarantee!

Also, if you want a CBT check out the DF Towel. Same type of towel just different sizes and color.

Longarm- Although you already have a big order, I'd always buy more than one of each pad (stuff happens).

For a strong polish, I like 3M's PI-III RC (pn 05933), it's a lot milder than it sounds.

Instead of the SMR or #9, I like 3M's PI-III MG (pn 05937), available HERE

Having tried them both, instead of the BF, I prefer 4-Star's UPP, available HERE

And I prefer Meg's #16 over P21S (and it sure lasts a lot longer).

Just some things to consider...

I placed most of my order. I still have to purchase the pads and bonnetts for the pc. My wife is going to kill me. :argue I also still have to get the QEW. I do have a question, regarding Meguires #16 and PS 21. If Caranuba Wax melts quick anyway, would it matter whick one you buy, or go for the best shine while it lasts? It will be over top of BlackFire Sealant. Here's what I bought so far. Ohh and BTW, thanks to everyone who posted in here and gave your feedback. It has helped more than you know. :bow :xyxthumbs

PS. Is the swirl remover best applied and removed by hand? Also, which one is best for dark colored paints?

Dude, I can give you some advice. Stick to the basics. Do not overbuy like most autopians do on here. Get your pads for the pc, get clay, some polishes, and maybe 2 waxes(meguiars #16 and #20 come to mind). Just don't overdue it, and this is coming from someone who did buy a lot of stuff and didn't use some of the products.

Man, I hear ya. I needed space in my garage to put all the crap I have bought in the last 2 years. SO I went to Home Depot and bought enough cabinets for 9 foot of cabinets on my wall next to my pegboard. It's filled with some stuff I won't use anymore since I've been on this site. I'm going to be cleaning that out this weekend. I'll stick to the wax's that I just bought along with a good caranuba and thats it. Looks like I've learned the hard way too.

Eh, I wouldn't throw the stuff away. Just because it's from a local store doesn't mean it's bad -- I love Turtle Wax Tire Wax. You can use the "lesser quality" waxes on door jambs or painted parts under the hood.

Swirl remover by PC.
