Hello,

I'm new here...but been nuts about detailing for years. Here are some pics of my S60 detailed.

To simplify my process:

Clay (Get the yellow bars from Autopia...nice stuff)

Meguiars stage 1,2 and 3

Gold Class

Water Spritz

I would like to up the process and am thinking of trying out the Klasse stuff.

Anyway, here's my car....

Nicely done, sir! :bow

I especially love the pic of the hood with the cloud near the leading edge!!!

And if you like Gold Class, you should love Meg's latest, NXT. Almost no dust (very much unlike GC) and no worry about staining trim.

Keep the shiny side up! :up

Klasse twins (AIO x 2 and SG x 3) on you car will make your eyes bleed! Great protection against the the 3 fatal juices (to paint) birds, trees and bugs! You can mix layers of SG and UPP and use SONUS as a QD and you will be set.

Great job!

Gentlemen,

You are all too kind, thanks for the great comments.

I have just bought some NXT but not tried it yet...I intend to purchase the Klasse twins. I use the Megs QD...but have not tried the Sonus ...would be interested in this.

I apply everything by hand...everything gets done - inside the wheels...everything...I never use a cleaner on the wheels...just shampoo...and then I wax, wax and wax them some more...stops the brake dust getting a hold. Major detail session usually takes about 3 hours...minor about 1 hour...

@ 6SpeedBowtie...I too would love to have my S60 in the garage...sadly, UK house builders build garages so small you can barely get a bike in...my wife's Polo resides in the garage (I will post some detailing pics also)...if I got mine in, I would have to stay in it all night as I couldn't get the doors open...

Cheers guys,

Ian

ps thanks for the tips so far, I hope to pick your brains even more...I just love a shiny car :)

Thanks a lot..

One more reflective pic...(excuse the hideous trainers...detailing shoes;))

Doors...I also make sure the interior of the doors get detailed too - every inch of it..

Interior gets the full treatment too..

NXT most certainly DOES stain trim. It stained mine and the bottle says to avoid trim. Thats one of the reasons I'm not using it anymore is because it stained mine.

Nicely done ijc, except your steering wheel's on the wrong side, er.. the right side. (Just kidding!)

I am a Volvo owner myself. Currently on my 3rd. Have driven all three well past 200K miles.

I see "S60 D5 SE" in your tagline. Does the "D5" stand for diesel 5-cyl? If so, that's cool. Wish we have more diesel availability here in the states.

Great lookin' brick!

Regards,

Mike

OK...I'll get some in the Sun...but as pugoman will corroborate, there are absolutely no swirls or anything on my paint....I'd die if there were...:)

PM - nice to see you man..

@stainbuster...thanks mate. Yep it's the 5-cyl diesel...same block as the T5, different head and 2.4l discplacement. Std form it's 163bhp / 380nm or as has been stated, std is actually 177bhp. Mpg is averaging at 45..

It's my second brick..I had a V70 2.0 20v before...loved that car...Ruby Red. What's your brick Mike and what were the others? 200k each...that's just breaking in period in a Volvo ;)

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian,

Yep 200k miles is just breaking in! LOL!:lol

My current brick is a 1900 745 GL (wagon or estate over there). My last brick was a 1988 244 GL sedan/saloon that had 255k miles when I sold it to it's current owner 2 years ago. He still drives the car daily and it has 320k miles now. The brick before that one was a 1984 242GT. Awesome car: 2 door coupe, turbo, many mods, lots of IPD stuff. Unfortunately, I thought I knew the car better than I did and lets just say, I survived, the brick did not. Had it not been a Volvo, I probably wouldn't be here today.

BTW, what's the torque rating on your D5?

When our fuel prices are as high here as the are in Europe, people will be screaming for diesel availability. Besides, diesel is about .25 cents per gallon cheaper than reg. unleaded here. Diesels have nearly double the fuel economy, not to mention extreme durability and life.

Regards,

Mike

Think I've seen that one somewhere before too!

VERY nice pics and car. What do you use on the interior plastic?

Diesels rock! (can't believe I said that but at 50mpg I really can't complain plus the 205's in the garage for when I want to see more than 4000 revs...)

@stainbuster...oooh, I like them 745's they were the definitive shape....

As for your fuel prices...wow...in the UK...diesel is more expensive or just the same price....as unleaded :(

The torque rating is 380Nm standard...lots and lots of pull :)

I once had a van go up my rear in the V70...his front end caved in, radiator on the floor....the V70...couple of bumper scratches...

@Andyc...if you are the same Andy from diselcar...then yes mate, you have seen it before...;)

As for interior plastics...nothing more than a very mild fairy liquid solution...no cleaners or anything...except for the leather...now don't laugh, as I have been doing this for years...I use Pampers baby wipes to clean the leather....they look as good now as they did last year when it was new...pugoman will back me on this...

Pampers wipes are seriously good at cleaning...and if no-one believes me, they are welcome to come and look, I defy you to spot the difference between driver seat with 18,000 miles wear and passenger seat (hardly used)....;)
