My (noob) process in detailing...

Ok guys, a little help here. I need to make sure this process will be ok for my new upcoming car this january. (Subaru 06 Sti in Obsidian Black Pearl)

Wash

Clay with Clay magic

wash

SSR 1 to remove factory swirls (??? or should i use something a bit more abrasive IE 2.5)

AIO

SG

Top with Natty's blue

Now here's where I'm lost, from what I read in regards to Poorboys SSR line (other than the 2.5) I have to follow up with some sort of polish (???). Would applying the AIO after the SSR be enough or must I buy a polish and then follow with AIO, SG, LSP. If a polish is needed, any recommendations? Thanks guys for the help. I've learned so much through this website and when the time comes I just want to do it right the first time. :2thumbs:

subaru paint is pretty soft to begin with so the minor marring present on the car when you get it should come out with ssr1. I would personally get ssr2.5 and ssr1 just in case ssr1 cant get them out. Besides, you could just tell the dealer to just take off the transportation plastic sheeting and not to wash the car. as for a finishing polish, ssr1 will leave an LSP-ready surface, but if you want to have the car look the very best that it can, users with black cars on here are raving about menzerna P085RD as a finish polish on black. I love how the new wrx's/STi's look, please be sure to post up some pics when you get it :D

Thanks Neothin! I will be sure to post pictures! I went to the dealership the other day and they agreed that when time comes, I could just request to keep the transportation plastic on until it arrives and not to wash (as you said). More than likely I will do that... :bounce

I see you use RMG on your car, I have read about many guys using RMG on black cars to really deepen the look. So, my new question is...*haha*...will it be ok to squeeze in RMG after AIO and SG...Basically is it compatible? I know its ok with AIO, with that in mind I suppose its fine with SG or should I knock the SG out and go AIO, RMG, Nattys? Thanks again!

I don't know where you're located, but AIO/RMG/Nattys isn't going to be great protection for the winter. If you're in the South, then it doesn't really matter, as you can wax whenever you want. :(

RMG is a light abrasive polish/cleaner. It will remove some or all of whatever you put under it.

RMG would be the substitute for AIO. But that asks the question of how well SG will bond to the RMG.

I'd probably just stick with AIO/SG/Nattys. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

SSR2.5 and anything lower usually doesn't require another polish to prep the surface. You can usually get LSP-ready from just SSR2.5.

Awesome. Sounds great! Ill just stick to AIO, SG, Natty's. I'm located in So. California. Orange County in particular. :) Thanks guys for all the help!!
