Well after a long time looking, I picked this car up this past Wednesday. It was at a Checy dealer, they really didnt know what the car was and let it go for a bit over $6600, it has only 58k miles! It needed some detailing and I asked them not to let their "kids" detail it. i didnt want it to get any worse.

Thanks for the compliments! I like to think I take car of my cars and have a bit of a knack for detailing. The car cleaned up awesome! Wolfgang is great stuff too. I have to say the car could pass for 1 - 2 years old now.

n1976jmk, What I meant was they thought it was a Ford Contour. They really didnt understand that an SVT was a "special" car above and beyond a normal Contour.

Gonzo, thanks. You have a nice truck too, good choice of color. The Lightning sits way to high for my tastes (although pot holes, curbs, etc arent an issue). I plan to do a 2 - 3" drop this summer. I dont want to slam it, but take some of the gap out of the wheel wells (my 93 Lightning is lowered over 4"!)

Hondaguy2582, Im planning to go to Stoney Creek. What is the average age of the guys going? ANyway, sounds like more of a sport compact crowd so Id probably bring the 'Tour.

Great work! You did the right thing not letting the dealer clean it up for you. That silver paint really looks liquid! The tint job really looks tight with that color.

Now it is time to terrorize the streets with your little sleeper. So few really know what that is. ;)

I *owned* two SVT Contour(98 and 99) both were complete POS's. I finally had to take it bent over when the engine blew for the THIRD time in my last one. I really, really can't stand those cars anymore. I am glad I got rid of mine. Good luck on yours because YOU will have problems. Then again it is a Ford(FRAUD).

Buick_guy, The SVT version has a 2.5 Duratec. The engine sounds good on paper but in reality it is a failure. That version suffers from a myrid of problems ranging from oil starvation issue to weak crankshafts that snap. Check out www.contour.org and you will see what I am talking about. Most of the people over there have already gotten rid of there cars because after a few years/60,000+ miles they turn to complete ****.

You could go in da hood and mount 22's to fill the wheel well, or stay out of da hood and mount 20's?
