My new car: Red Single Stage 93 MR2

There are about 27 pics. . .these pics also hid the massive swirling on the paint, so it's a work in process. . .once I graduate, I'll have more time to spend on this bad boy. . .

I'm selling the rusty integra tomorrow (crosses fingers) and replaced it with this yesterday.



What I did:

Sorry, no before pics



Gold Class wash

Simply Gree 100% on motor, engine cover, gas cap (it was filthy!)

A2Z on wheels

Rain-X windshield

AIO

NXT

S100 topper

I might do another coat of S100 in the morning and some Meguiars Final Inspection quick detailer.



The interior is pretty nasty, so thats next too. . .already got a vacume, but the seats need shampooing and the plastic needs serious degreasing (10:1 Simply Green for that one)

Good job man. I always wanted one of those but turbo. From time to time I see one in the LA area with nice wheels and just want to start searchin.
 
I detailed a Turbo one last fall and the owner said I'm on top of the list for it when he decides to sell it. a red 93 Turbo with 53K adult driven bone stock miles. He even got all the original paperwork from every service from the original owner

(a texas car so no salt on it ever, unlike here in IL)

I guess the real interesting part of this is that I also have an Integra GS-R. It's a black '98 with all of 25000 miles on it.
 
My 91 MR2 NA still looks like it belongs in a showroom. After a detail the Red just glows.



Bought new in 1990, I detail twice a year with Meguiars and a PC.
 
Is it typical to put Caranuba waxes over synthetic waxes for depth? I always thiought you only topped synthetic with another synthetic?
 
What a great car. I'd get one if I could find a good, bone-stock example. This is the car I should have been driving in the 90's instead of my Integra.



What a darn shame they don't make it anymore. :(

I was actually looking for a MR2 when I sold my WRX back in Oct and couldn't really find one. I did find the GSR and that was #2 on my list. Then my friend got this one in Nov from the Original owner, a Toyota Service Manager. I convinced him to sell it to me.



This is the 4th MR2 that I've had in my life.



I had a black 1989 Supercharged version

then I had a Black 1991 Turbo with T-tops

then I had an automatic 1991 Red MR2 (with really faded paint-before I was into the Forum boards and before I knew about this site and some of the kick arse products that are available out there. AIO would have really made that car red!



I used the standard Meguiars 3 Step on that car, and it would look a ton better, but the oxidation on the paint was just never gone. .



I'm happy with this car though. . .

Very sweet! Me? I like the original Miatas, but an MR2 might be next!



BTW, I would have waited 24 hours after the NXT to finish with the S100.

It was my first attempt at using NXT. I know now for next time.



I also used NXT on the Integra before I sold it. With both I noticed that I had to use quite a bit of NXT, like I had to use about a dime size on each panel. It didn't take to spreading well. Is this normal?

I once owned a 1986 MR2, What a car it was... Even though it did not have much HP, it sure was fun to drive. Sweet engine too. :xyxthumbs
