So, my father had purchased this car a few months ago and I had wanted to detail it for him since he got it but his schedule is little crazy so it would've been a pain to do it. He ended up going on a golf trip and took our 2015 charger(which is very nice btw
) instead of his car so I got 5 days to detail it. I work at my own pace since i'm not getting money and it's my dad's car so it isn't to big of a deal. Also im 18 and still relatively new to this so i'm still learning the hardness or softness of most paints. Now unlike most cars, this one is tricky, a few days beforehand some workers had been spray painting a fence and the mist had gotten on his paint. Most people said to use clay, however, I did use clay and it didn't do much. I had the lower end clay from Meguiars so that may be why but I couldn't just order new clay mostly because I was broke so I did my best and hoped for the best during the compounding process. So now that I have gotten the description out of the way, here is the list of steps and products as well as the pictures.
2 bucket method
Cleaned the wheels with a different bucket
Meguiars clay with soap and water as lubrication
Dried off with leaf blower
Using a harbor freight DA polisher with 5.5 in backing plate and 3 in backing plate
Compounded with m105 and yellow pad
Polished with m205 and white pad
Cleaned the windows with stoners invisible glass and also used Rainx Rain Repellent for a hydrophobic effect
The entire interior was cleaned with Meguiars APC (Didn't have any conditioner on hand for the leather at the moment.)
Door sills and engine bay cleaned with APC as well
My only LSP on hand was HD Poxy, but i'm looking into some cquartz to use on all of our cars
Tire gel is Meguiars
Cleaned the wheel wells with APC
2011 Ford Edge - Album on Imgur
There are several bad and blurry photos and couple repeats I believe. This is my first time posting pictures of this stuff so try to cut me some slack and sadly I just missed the sun when I finished so I couldn't get any sun pics. Thanks for looking and feel free to critique!
