Hello Everyone,

I want to make sure I am choosing the right products for my car. Here is the run down.

94 Red Supra Turbo - has been repainted about 1.5 years ago. The paint has never been polished or waxed. It has seen a fair share of the elements, swirls, etc..my car is garaged kept.

Detail kit:

I already have soap, clay, mf towels, etc...

Buffer- Flex 3401

Pads - Lake County pads

Compound- M105 -- Is this to harsh of a compound for my car ?

Polish- M205

Or am I just better off sticking with the wolf gang or pinnacle kit they offer on Autogeek since they seem to be less aggressive then Megs.

Thanks,

More details are needed.

What specific Lake Country pads do you have? Which pads are you planning on using with the M105 and M205?

What is the condition of the paint? Swirls? How many? How severe? Oxidation?

If your paint has a fair amount of swirls, the M105 is definitely not too aggressive.

The paint is still good only 1.5 years old but there are a lot of swirls, no oxidation .. LC pad will be Orange to start. After reading a good bit seems M105 will just be fine. Seems a lot of people prefer the m105/m205 combo.

Now i'm looking for a good sealant and wax to give me a nice Deep Wet look. Any recommendations ? I know a lot of has to do with prep work.

Thanks!

Nice car and glad to see you wanting to take good of it. They are hard to find.

Is this a single stage paint or do you have a gel coat? Which polish / pad combination may depend on the Gel coat or paint hardness so experiment lightly first.

After a good wash and clay I'd try the 205 with the Orange pad with slow / even passes over a small area no larger then 1 sq foot at a time to see if it removes the swirls first. If that works you can then switch to 205 on a white pad for the finishing polish stage.

I found 205 to be pretty amazing with the heavier Orange pad. If you don't get the swirls out you can always move to the heavier 105 / Orange before going to the 205 / White for finishing. I always like to use the least aggressive method first.

I'd also suggest a liberal IsoProphyl Alcohol / Water (50/50) wipedown to remove the poilishing oils and abrasive residue between polishing stages and before final finish. This will help you to "clearly" see if you got the necessary results. I use the IPA wipedown between each polishinig step for that reason alone.

Last step wax or sealant - lot's of choices and even more opinions but I recently switched to using the Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant and have gotten spectacular results. I had used thier finishing polish after using the M205 Orange / M205 White combination as I had indicated above.

I was previously using Meg 21 syn sealant with Meg 26 carnuba on top but I've found the BFWD to be superior. The paint color is brighter because the finish is perfectly clear. Depth and wetness on my dark metallic blue is incredible.

Take good care of that collectible... post pics when done.

I think your plan is good, orange pad with M105. You can try the orange pad with M205 first as suggested by LMG, but if you have a lot of swirls, I seriously doubt that will be sufficient unless the paint is very soft.

As for a sealant/wax, two of my favorites are Optimum's Opti-Seal and Blackfire's Wet Diamond. However, I recently bought a new HHR SS that is bright red, and I noticed a surprising improvement in looks (including depth and wetness believe it or not) with Opti-Seal over the BFWD. YMMV.
