My car, lil' product review, maybe a rant? (and some other cars) :D

Hey guys. After 4 months (literally) of just spraying the car down with water, I decided to wash it. I was going to wait another couple weeks but my LSP (Z5pro, non-ZFX) finally decided it's had enough recently. No more slickness, no more wetness, just blah bare paint. I gotta give it up though, held up 4 months through a hellish winter and no washes.

Anyway, on to the process. I washed. I wanted to give the SCHmitt a second shot. Derek was nice enough to send me a few so I wanted to give it a fair shake (tired it in Feb, didn't like). I still don't like it. To those that do, very cool. It isn't for me.

Second I Z-AIO'd, which brings me to my first little product blurb; this stuff rules. It's so easy to use and so effective. If Sal releases a reasonable spray LSP I don't know what will become of me. :grinno:

Third I 106ff's in some spots.

Forth, I wetsanded. Why? Well two reasons; one I had a scratch on my front lip where a stinking bolt hit me (flew off a truck). Second, I have this weird stain on my hood. It's like nothing I've ever seen before. Sort of like someone dropped acid on the paint, looked all cloudy. Took some 2k then 3k grit to get it off :(

Last I applied Z5pro *with* ZFX this time, I wanna see if it lasts longer, probably will. Which leads me to the minor rant - what the hell is up w/this weather? Seriously. It's -4C right now and *SNOWING*. It's MID APRIL! Come on.

OK pics (I know, no sun... I haven't seen the sun in a month)!

More stuff incoming!

The first of two B5 S4's, both black, both a pain in the butt to work on.

Process on the first was:

A lot of wetsanding, mostly rear quarter (some impact damage)

Very, very hard paint. After this one I was seriously considering canceling the one the next day, hah.

Mercedes SL600, the same one I did last year... I was sad to see it like this again, I had the poor thing almost perfect but alas, the owner had an accident, had the front end repainted and the body shop did a number on it washing it. Boo.

Jetta TDI, this was a theft recovery car that the new owner is going to re-sell. Kind of interesting to work on, all original panels and paint, but rough shape.

Beautiful car bro, digging the wheels and the stance.

:2thumbs:

Thanks. I should have listed mods for anyone interested. KW V2 coilovers, DPE S-20's (19x10, 19x8.5), black grille and mesh, painted reflectors, 32% tint, changed roundels, debadge, aero front lip, changed the angel eyes, cornering lights, and fogs... think that's it. I have an exhaust on the way but that's it for now.

Kevin, Your car is looking very . It seems to me that the blacked out grill makes the "kidneys" look larger. It really changes the appearance of the front end. :woot2:

The wheels and the drop really finish out the package nice.

That first audi was such a mess, owner must of been very happy.

What did you use to polish out your lip after it was wetsanded? Thanks. I'm looking to do somthing similiar to mine..

BTW, with the mesh removed it looks sick..I would do that but if a large rock hits my intercooler it's over..

The mesh is still there, it's painted matte black. Trust me, after that nut hit me I am not going to expose the intercooler. :)

I used Hi Temp heavy via orange then 106ff/white to polish the lip after sanding.

Bryan; interestingly, in person the grille looks much smaller black (at least I think so...) here's an old comparo pic. Man, this makes me realize how much I've changed it haha.

The grill does look smaller black...and man, the mesh they have on these cars looks cheap, feels cheap, and probably is cheap (not insulting, I have the same car). Its a good idea to paint it black but probably only works on certain colors (darker).

Kevin, all I can say is WOW!!! Your car and work is just perfect, and of course very nice pics too. Rim, lip, everything is well-balanced....wow.

You didn't like Shmitt? hehe oh well, let me know if you need anything else, I'll be happy to help you out :)

So, the main question, where is Brembo BBK we've talked about?

Picus, Beautiful as always. Everytime you post a thread I get a funny tingley feeling LOL. Love the pics....are you still using full auto on your dslr? (If not what settings?)

Man, that intercooler is tiny....jk. Looks great, very nice choice of mods. Btw, intercoolers are tougher than you think. A rock wouldn't do much, but bend the fins a little. It would still work at 100%.

About Z-AIO, why do you like it so much? What makes it better than other AIO's like Klasse, Poli-Seal, etc.
