This past summer I hired a long time friend's 15 year old son to help with the lifting and packing. His name is Chris, we call him "Pockets" (given by Holland_Patrick), as we often find him with...well you can guess..:) He turned 16 in August and as a present for helping me, and putting up with me  I gave him my beater truck. The truck is a '88 Bronco II which my wife use to take to shopping centers:rolleyes:
The last few years the truck has little or no paint maintenence as the rust on the lower portions of the truck made me lose any interest in keeping up the exterior. Last week he finally took title to the truck and I gave him his first lesson with the PC. This is single stage paint and here's a few pictures of his work.

PS I'm sure he'll be joining the site soon ;)

That's awesome that you got him interested in detailing. It's even more cool that you gave him your truck. I can only imagine how happy he is. It looks like he did some pretty good work too.

That was his first time on paint... normmaly he is a tires only type of guy..

Yes, he's very happy and has been working on his family's cars all summer. He also volunteers for the Sea Scouts and a local Fire Department, so he's been practicing on boats as well as Fire Engines. I started him with washing my vehicles, and cleaning interiors. Then I showed him wheel polishing and sealing.....
He never knew it was so much work to clean cars the right way :roflmao

What a great boss!

The truck looks so much better after the detail. I know he'll enjoy driving it.

I'm sure that the Bronco you gave him is in tip top running order, and my compliments to Chris for whipping the exterior back into shape, especially since you had obviously lost interest (long ago) in its up keep:eek:

Get good at this stuff Chris and I'll fly you out here for a summer of working for my company for double the wage that I suspect "Poorboy's" paying you:rofl :rofl

ok I'm curious what's his process. This isn't fair we all need to know, how did he did it

He started with SSR2.5 on a Lake Country Orange Cutting pad. working first at speed 1 to spread and then at 5 to work the finish. It took him about 10-15 minutes per pass, until the glow of the paint returned. He then applied PwC with a Lake Country White Polishing pad with the same speeds as the SSR2.5. I finished off the hood for him using a prototype paste wax that we never put into production ;)

Wow!! That was so nice of you to give him your Bronco! He did a great job on the paint. Gotta love Poorboy's. :) Great story and pics.

Thats really nice of you Steve, and I think he did a great job on the truck.

But whats this about a prototype wax
You didn't that would go un-noticed did you :D

We often make products that never make it past me or a few other people.
If it doesn't do as expected or not better than something already in existance, we just put it aside. Also, initial samples don't always become the final product and I have to do something with them;) Then again J we are always working on new stuff too:D

My Dad use to own his construction business i was a laborer for my Dad,so when you mention pockets it made smile because he once caught me with my hands in my pockets .

I knew what your talking about  from then on i was always :surrender busy and until this day i remember what he told me about putting my hands in my pockets :)

Giving him the car was a nice gesture. I seen the pic PH posted i was wondering who the kid was cleaning the tires it lookes like he was enjoying it too much  which makes him a true DCer :bigups

Thanks for the comments guys :) ...Chris and his father have been working hard to revitalize the Bronco and it has come a long way....now if he can only keep his father out of his truck ::rofl

ps....I'd like to welcome Chris to Detail City as a member ..pockets@poorboysworld is his name here ;)
