Here it is after my work today.
First a little info. I am going on a 1400 mile trip and don't want to be picking bugs off this thing for ages. This is a temp thing, I know it will probably shot after this but I wanted to see how long it would take.
After reading some reviews I decided not to use the rotory polisher my parents picked up for me for christmas. It only has one wool pad and i did not want to be spending hours fixing anything i did today.
So i did this all by hand. The interior will be finished tomorrow.
First wash with meguires gold class then with dawn. this includes all those little unseen places.
then Dried it with MF towels. Which have replaced nearly every other hand towel in my house. So i had to do a load or two of towel laundry to get them in shape.
Then i did the cars first claybar using mequiers claybar kit. Whenn we picked the car up from the dealer it had been sitting on the lot for about 3 months. The dealer spared no dirty towels in their attempts to smear the dust and goo around for me. It needed a clay bar badly when i first waxed it that first weekend. But every local place i checked did not have any. <shrug> As to the meguiers clay bar kit. I read the reviews here and stepped up my use of the qd as a lube. If anything I feel it was not that (for the lack of a better word) aggressive. But it got the job done and i only dropped on chunk. In to the can it went.
After claybar i started with step one of meguiers 3 part kit. I chose this based on the reviews. As most considered it basically anemic in polishing capability, I decided it was not likely for me to over work the surface.
Step two of Meguiers 3 step
step 3 of same.
and the exterior is ready to be pouned by bugs at 90 miles an hour.
Here are the after pics.
