My 97 Trans Am back from body shop

I finally got my car back and the paint and hood look great (its been gone for almost 2 months). They (Vornhagen's of Brentwood, CA) did a great job. The only thing I was disapointed with was the detailing job, it was crap! There is already swirls in the paint! And they left my hood off for about 3 weeks and it got all kinds of crap from the body shop on it. There was also water spots on it and some spots of wax on the wheels that they didn't take off. Owe, well its a project for me now. And I guess that can be kind of a good thing, show they aren't trying to hide much.

Oh ya and is AIO ok for new paint? Can wait till I can do a full proccess on the paint!

I just got it back today, so I just took some quick pics.

Hope you guys like it.

And I bet you guys cant notice all the differnces. ;)

i had the bodyshop installed swirls on my paint as well.. i waited it out about 2 months and decided to just try some ssr 2.5 with a polishing pad. wow it looks soo perfect! il post up pics in the click &brag when im not lazy :)

Thanks, guys. Its kinda funny only the Fbody guys posted. As for the springs they are DMS spring and so far I lovem! When I had my steel hood it sat a little lower in the front, now it sits perfect. Here is a link http://www.dynamicmotorsports.com/DMS_springs.htm

I'll go ahead and tell you all my mods while at it. :D

SLP cold air intake, Hooker Headers cat back, custom cut-out, DMS lowering springs, Bilstein HDs, KBDD SFC, UMI LCA, Adj. PHR, 1LE front sway bar, Edelbrock STB.

Appearance: Black top, black raised portion of WS6 hood, black top of wing, black wheels, blacked out rear panel, shaved front bird, and shaved side molding. I think thats it.

Hey, you've got to give us some time to respond. It's summer and we're out detailing our cars too! Your Trans Am looks amazing, I love the modifications you've done. You lost me on some of the acronyms, thought I was familiar with most but you lost me. AIO should be safe on your paint, I did let mine sit for weeks before touching it as it was in the winter and cold! Yours should be good to go soon if they baked the paint. I remember I could smell the new paint smell for about two months after my hood and front end was done.

Thanks for posting!

AIO is technically a sealant product. I would avoid it for 90 days or so. In the meantime I would use some #80 or #81 to polish out those swirls and such (actually any "body shop safe" polish will work) and cover it with just a glaze like #5 or #7, or 3M IHG. If you seal or wax the paint before it has cured for ~90 days, you may create problems for yourself further down the road.

So here are some better pics to show what was done a little better.

This is the WS6 hood with the raised portion painted black.

This is the blacked out side signals I did yesterday.

This is the side with the side molding shaved. Now that its too late I kinda wish I got them to get black Trans Am emblems.

This is one of the back, you can see what body line the black was stopped at and the black center and black rear lower part of the bumper.

I got the top of the 3rd brake light painted too, so it doesn't look all broken up.

Check out the ghost firebird!

Here is the slight swirling, not too bad, but its brand spanking new!

Yep, took care of that after I took the pics. Used some QD and it came right out. See what I mean by they did a crappy job of detailing.

Thats what happened when I came here. lol Well PHR is Panhard rod, LCA lower control arms, KBDD SFC is Kenny Brown Double Diamond Subframe Connectors, and CAI is Cold air intake.

I think that was all of them.
