Mustang beats Corvette

Cats and dogs are sleeping together and Mustangs are whipping Corvettes! Anyone read the latest issue of Car and Driver? Never thought I would see the day when anyone in their right mind would say a Mustang of any variety was better than a Corvette. I like the European styling of the new Mustangs, now I have to drive one. American cars are stepping up their game. Look out Porche!

Fun to drive-- Mustang 25/Corvette 22.

Total--Mustang 205/Corvette 202.

Congrats to Ford.

Yeah not a huge fan of some of the scoring systems, when weighting of categories doesn't line up with the type of vehicle, or the subjective like Fun to drive or Interior or Exterior looks.

Yeah, I saw that too. Subjective ratings are, uhm...subjective.

But I'll be the first to say that the "best numbers car" isn't always the one I'd rather have/drive, even if we're talking Track Toy.

Well, if the Ford FINALLY got rid of that solid axle and went to independent suspension, then it MIGHT be better... at least handling wise...

Having grown up around cars all my life and around the first Boss302's, KR500's, Z/28's, Corvettes with 427/tri-power, etc., they ALL have become so bloated and just downright FAT -except - the Corvette which will always be so much more in style than that Mustang..

Now if you factor in the Ford GT - well, Im thinking I really like THAT 1... :)

If you remember the Terminator Cobras in early 2000's had IRS. A lot of guys swapped it out for solid axles due to the bad wheel hop.

I have driven the lastest Mustang GT, I was NOT a stick and a year old vette. The are both beasts.

The vette has well that classic vette feel and feels faster and more agile. I was floored by the Stang simply because was not expecting it to feel so solid! I was totally impressed with ford. On vacation last year I rented a Comaro vert that was OK, and then a Ford vert that I mush preferred. Easier to see out of, less cowl shake and generally a more solid feel.

Both good cars and I own a 15 Vette. Yup, I said it. Actually good to see competition among manufacturers. We all benefit.

I just don't agree with a magazine evaluating any car on something that isn't measurable.

In the end, no matter what you have, there is always something faster. I've learned that the hard way a couple of times

Thanks for the memory - yes remember them !

Im thinking that guys that wanted to get rid of wheel hop were racing the 1/4 - 1/8 mile - you know, straight line racing stuff..

While guys that wanted handling for say Trans Am racing, etc, wanted the opposite..

First time I saw and heard a beautiful Ford Boss302 with headers, well it was incredibly beautiful and sounded so good !

Now, today's versions geez even the front end and hood is all bloated and fat...

Muscrat fan here always have been, save it be the Mustang II years. I dig the 67's through 70's, love the Bosses and Mach's. I've had my own small stable of them. I'd love to have new one (course while I'm dreaming I'd like it to be a Roush, Shelby or Saleen). You know, a 700 plus horse version. Been watching where they're taking the new 4 popper Mustangs. It amazes me what they can get out of 2.3 liters without cracking the engine open for upgraded parts. Here's a pretty good read on this topic,

That said, I still believe the Camaro to be the apple of the GM line in which to compare the Stang. As it should be, they have something that stacks up fairly well to the entire OE line of Mustangs. I still want to see the Mustang come out on top but the Camaro line up doesn't make it a walk in the park. I don't really care for where Cheby has taken the body lines of the new Camaro but there is no denying it's performance. No accounting for taste.

There is something about the way the new Vettes look, they're beautiful.

I do not follow car performance but see so many references to mustangs as nothing special (always getting owned by some other car).

I think that's why ford stopped doing IRS in the stang. Most Stang owners want to roast tires and drag race.

My favorite ones are late 60's and 88-93
