Mothers Trim Cleaner vs Optimum Power Clean

Detailing Gnosis
There have been several good reviews on the Mothers Trim Cleaner already so this is really more than a demonstration comparison.

Optimum Power Clean is my favorite all purpose cleaner and usually my go to product for cleaning trim prior to applying a trim dressing. I typically use UTTG but have used Solution Finish and Poorboys Trim Restorer.

These mirrors are on a 1997 Dakota that sits outside most of the time and they will fade to lighter color over time.

For this experiment with photos, I put two pieces of tape and decided to compare Optimum vs Mothers but I always wanted to compare how it worked with the supplied brush from Mothers.

LL = Mothers trim cleaner with the Mothers brush

LR = Mothers trim cleaner using a terry towel to scrub

UL = Optimum using a brush from Richard Lin / Black Wow (similar bristle style brush)

UR= Optimum straight using a terry cloth towel

Conclusions
Given that the mirrors lightened naturally (dressings fade), I attribute the darker areas as being cleaned better so I believe the Mothers product especially with the brush cleans better than Optimum. Even when cleaning with a terry cloth towel, it still was effective and better than Optimum.

The gel is easy to use than liquids since it clings to the brush as well as the surface as you work especially on more vertical surfaces. The brush does assist and obviously many cleaners would benefit from agitation and likely important for cleaning textured surfaces.

I have used this on other trim pieces and now my primary trim cleaning product.

I plan to redoing this test again soon when I test the Ultima sample. I did this about 4 months ago and just wrote the review.
