mothers reflections vs meguiars gold class

Which one of these one step products do you think would give a better shine? How about durability?

Also, why is it that I find so many auto stores, target, k-mart, etc carrying the gold class, but not the mothers reflections?

Never used the Mother's, but I'm not a fan of the Gold Class. There are lots of better choices IMO. Gold Class has a rep for extremely short durability, and not a soul has stepped up to dispute that. Having a rep for short durability isn't proof of short durability, but I find it interesting that the rep goes undisputed.

Pep Boys in my area carry the complete Mothers line.

Carnuaba Wax

Glaze..etc

Forrest has described Reflections here in the past. You might want to do a search for his posts about the product.

I cannot refute the comments made about Gold Class.

I have them both. Reflections is very easy to work with (similar to Zaino IMO) but I would only use it on lighter colored cars. It isn't very good with swirls (little abrasive qualities). The Gold Class is very hard to remove so I only use it on wheels. I will never buy it again. I probably wont buy Reflections either now that I am hooked on other products.

I don't understand what you people are talking about...

I've been using GC for approx. 5 months - in that time I've only done 2 complete applications on my car (the 2nd time was only because I had a spare afternoon, not because it actually needed it). The durability and shine is excellent - after every wash, the car still looks great. I wash my car at least once-a-week, so it can't be easily stripped off by washing. As for "very hard to remove" you're either applying too much or you're joking!

Now I'm not saying GC is the best "polishing wax" out there, far from it - I know there are many waxes out there that will give a deeper and wetter looking shine, but I just don't believe it deserves this so-called "bad reputation".

You guys in the U.S. are very lucky, because you have so many excellent car care products available to you. I just wish it was the same over here in the U.K. GC is one of the best readily available waxes over here - if we want to try products such as Zaino or Klasse we have to order it from U.S. websites and then get hit by taxes, VAT, import duties etc. when we receive over here.

I am going to be trying the P21S products shortly as they are available at a few select web retailers in the U.K. One day I'll get round to posting some pics so you can see the GC shine I get on my car - I'm sure you'll all approve!!

Reflections is a first generation synthetic wax, resin based. It has light cleaners in it. We called it a polish because it doesn't have any carnauba in it. Retail is about 9.99 at places like Pep Boys, Murrays, etc.

The plusses - exceptionally easy to remove, great shine. Can be applied and removed in direct sunlight. I think it looks great on dark colors BTW.

Down side - resins are soft by comparison, so the finished product doesn't feel as slick as carnauba does. (It sheets more than beads.)

I use it on my daily driver and my wife's mini-van,

I've used both and each is decent for an off the shelf product. Like the others, I've found that Gold Class holds the edge in initial appearance and Relfections has better durability (and less dusting).

I use Gold Class(paste) and I like it alot. It's easy to apply and remove. It seems to hold up well, my car is always outside.

Iwas a staunch #26 user and then tried GC .. applied one coat and I found on a black car it was not something I liked at all .. The gloss was there but it seemed to amplify every little imperfection. I did the car the next day with Menzerna FP then Glanz .. Gave it to my sister.

Ive tried them both and I think that they are both fine . Reflection is a little easier to use, with G.C. you have to rub harder. A small car can be polished with Reflection in about 20 minutes. G.C. gives a little higher gloss that most people wont notice and Reflections last longer. Its a coin touce.
