mothers chrome polish on plastic headlights?

I have no idea what the outcome could be but why not just stick to the product intended for this purpose, i.e. Mother's Plastic Polish, Meg's PlastX, etc.

My headlights ain't chrome, so I dont think I'd be doing that. Why would you do that? are things that boring up in canada?

I did put some chrome polish on the rims of my jeep before we went running thru the creek and the dirt washed right off.

Next I'm gonna try some of the mag polish on my stainless S&w 9 mm. Maybe itll make the slide go faster so I can bust some more soda cans.

Well my windows arn't chrome but it's good for windows so :D might as well try it huh

well yeah, but at least it says you can use it on glass on the bottle. It dont say anything about plastic headlights.

My jeep has real glass headlights. what kinda car do you have?

There are many things out there where on the bottle it doesn't say you can use it but it's actually pretty good for it. I have a 93 tempo gl and it's in great shape and it's got plastic polycarbonate lenses.

The polish never did any harm and never did any good either so. I tried it last night and it did jack, so lesson learned.

Can't find out unless yah try it :up

I have heard of people using Mothers mag/alum polish on headlights with good results, and I've used Mothers Plastic Polish with good results as well. I don't see why Chrome Polish would be any different...but if the headlights (lenses actually) are plastic, then why not just use plastic polish?

I would think that chrome polish would be less aggressive than aluminum polish. I think I remember GSRstylez used aluminum polish to finish his tail lights.

Normally, chrome polish is more aggressive than aluminium polish, due to it having to polish a much harder metal (as I understand it). That's why they say that it can be used on glass since they have a similar hardness.

However, I tried some Mothers Chrome Polish on my chromed intake headers (my avatar) and it didn't feel abrasive at all. I got the impression it was more of a chemical cleaner, but I'm probably wrong. (I wouldn't use it on plastic/polycarbonate, though...too risky).

I also tried NXT Metal Polysh and it definately was abrasive...I could hear and feel it abrading...it worked great on the chrome, probably a bit more gloss created over the Mothers, but the protection Mothers left felt much slicker than NXT, therefore harder to fingerprint.

Mind you, it would be a brave/stupid man who'd attempt to fingerprint hot engine headers!....Why are you looking at *me*?! :D

I tried Mother's Chrome polish, Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish, as well as Meguiar's, Kit and other plastic polishes. Even with great effort, by hand, all produced marginal results on my headlights. Then I tried ClearKote Metal Polish, which, despite its name, is manufacturer-recommended for plastic as well. Done by hand, my plastic headlights were almost like new in just a few minutes! Definitely the way to go, in my opinion.
