More MF questions

Okay, I've spent the last day reading and re-reading all the threads I could find on MF and haven't quite found all the answers yet.

1. Tried the CD scratch test with my Fieldcrest Royal Velvet 100% cotton towels. Had very faint scratches only when scrutinized carefully but linted like crazy! Probably still safe for the car though. Then tried Meguair's Ultimate Wipe(mega-expensive!). No scratches and sucked up all the cotton lint but the sewed black edge scratched a bit. My questions: Anyone ever feel like they had to cut off the edges of their Pakshaks, MFtechs, JTIncs, etc. or fold them in a way so the edges don't contact the paint? Have you tried the CD scratch test with the edges on these towels? If anyone has cut the edges off, how bad is the fraying?

2. No thread I can find about the color of MF towels. Most seem to be green or blue except Meguiar's which is white. I did read a few comments about some MF towels bleeding the dye a bit initially. Does this stop after a couple of washes? Any concerns about the colour coming off onto white paint. for example?

3. Lastly and most importantly, for those Canucks who ordered from Pakshak or MFtech or JTInc, what kind of prices did you get, shipping costs, GST, duty, etc.?

Thanks. This forum is spectacular.

I bought the MFTech blue towels (waffle weave drying towel, bunch of ultimate wipe knock offs, and an Elite....all light blue). Have not had a problem with dye coming off them whatsoever. My car is silver, and I am sure the light blue dye would certainly show up if it came off of the towel.

I just did the CD scratch test with the ultimate MF Tech knock offs (actually they are the inconsistents, not knock off copies, sorry). I rubbed pretty hard with both sides of the stitched edges in a swirling motion...no discernable scratches. Haven't cut off any edges, so no comment about that.

Sorry, I am not a Canuck so I cannot comment on the prices. I am an honorary one though as I grew up in Northern Maine, ten miles from the N.B. border!!!

Good luck!!!

just my .02

i wash new towels before i use them in the washer using dawn dish detergent. i do not dry them in the dryer, i hang dry them.

i do not cut off the edges, i fold them into quarters and use them that way. i don't believe microfiber (good quality microfiber)would scratch, i guess it's just a hang up from years of using "regular" towels before the introduction of microfiber.

by the way..., the title of the post looks funny!:D

My microfibrertech blue mfs leaked dye to start with my ultimate wipe and megs pads turned blue!!!!!! Ok after a few washes!!!

The microfiber tech mfs edges are soft un like the meguiars ones, i hate the megs ones now, there edges are nasty. i just use mine for glass and another couple for rims now.

Those Meguair's MF black edges scare the hell out of me with the way they are so prominent. And they are so expensive at 11.99 CAN each for a 16x16!
