More Marketing stuff

If you have been following my marketing plans you know that I tried some innovative things. The coupon magazines have worked out pretty well, much better return investment than the yellow book. When you are small like me you have to select the methods of advertising that will give you the most bang for the buck. The best promotional idea so far has been targeting womens groups. Check your area for and she welcomed having a person in automotive call with interest. These circulations can reach upwards of 150,000 locations so they do charge for writing articles. However keep in mind rates ARE negotiable. She started out quoting me $1300 for a half page, and I finally got a FULL page ad for $300. Not bad. One reason I like this paper is that you can write you own article and plug your business anyway you want. My next step I have working with her is I proposed donating my time to write a winter detailing schedule for her readers in the Nov/Dec issue. If things go as planned, I won't be charged for this, plus part of my editorial will be in order to get job done right you should bring your car to Perfect Auto Finish. Gary

You, sir, are a marketing wizard. I've learned much from your posts (I'm about to launch my mobile detailing business), and I'm sure others have learned a lot from them too. Thanks for sharing your ideas, and keep em coming!

Getting in with your local chamber of commerce is also an excellent idea. My brother did that with his computer business and now his wife has to cut back to part time with her job to assist my brother in his business.

Scott, you are right but I have found not all chambers are the same. I did the local one last year (small town) and it only got me one or two jobs. I found out through my friend who is in a small business locally and he told me the near by town is more active. I plan on trying that one early spring. Gary

Update, I had my ad published and have recieved a few calls, still under expectations. However I did manage to talk the editor in allowing me to write an artcle (NO FEE) to inform the readers on how to get their car ready for winter. Again, free advertising is still my favorite kind. Gary
