more costs im curious about...

for anyone who has a shop or knows these numbers it would be greatly appreciated.

i was wondering what these costs would be about for a 3 or 4 bay shop doing detailig out of:
water
electric
insurance
phone

any knowledge or experience with any of these would great. trying to do lots of planning and not exactly sure what these will run me.
 
being that I live in one of the highest costs of living around , you might want to tell us where you live..Have you thought about just going mobile?
 
Insurance is based, somewhat, on the number of employees. Figure $110/mo for you and one employee. (Includes Worker's Comp)

Electricity (and gas?) could run $225/mo, with shop size being the big variable.

Telephone. Do you need more than a cell? I don't. But, I'm limited to no credit card processing, no fax, and no online access.

Water is a nonissue, running maybe $25-30/month. Comparable to household use, assuming you'd only be washing 3/4 cars per day.

I've got about the same numbers as jimmy--Plus you will need $ for the little issues that pop up from time to time.

$400 or more to become incorporated.

$70 or so a month for an accountant if your unable to do it yourself

city business license $45 a year

state business license $25 a year

my business phone runs $43 a month with a $250 deposit

if your not in the best neighborhood $25 for a security system.

$20 or so for a add in your local newspaper a month if you wish.

And it's pretty easy to go thru $150 to $200 in chemicals, compounds, dressings and such in a month if your churning out allot of cars.

the Car lots "DETAILS" are ok to keep you busy in the slow times---but the real bread and butter comes from general public. CATER TO THEM!

Also look in obvious but steady places for work--Church busses are great in the south (churches on every corner) and you can do them about once a month if your able to get your foot in the door for the yearly expense budget.

keep in mind it's a business and watch every penny and PAY YOURSELF!
 
thanks a lot that helps me big time. I will add that to my plan and bug you guys some more later when I get confused again lol jk but you guys really are a huge help. never been to a messageboard like this.
