More CC/Paint removed? Rotary or PC

I was wondering if the same polishes and pads are used, polishes broken down correctly, will the rotary remove more Clear/paint because of the heat and its speed? I have been reading and agree with some that a rotary'd final product is more shiny and clear that a PC's job. Just wondering, thanks for the help.

P.S. any other variables that I may have left out please make light of!

AZ, I'm not really sure what your angle is...are you thinking about getting a rotary?

To answer you question, a rotary is more aggressive and will remove more paint/defects...partially due to heat, but in most cases the difference is due to the fact that there is a lot more pad movement (a DA probably has to jiggle a dozen times to equal one spin on the rotary). I suppose if you worked the DA for 4 - 5 times as long it would remove the same amount of defect/painit, but this often isn't feasible given product drying time.

And yes, the rotary leaves a clearer, brighter finish due to its ability to completely break down the abrasives.

Thanks RAG, I have a rotary, and DW 443, but I feel that a rotary will remove more clear coat, but if the abrasives being broken down properly is what is leading to the brighter finish, than I guess more clear would be taken off because of the further breakdown of the abrasives. I am over thinking...

The rotary excels at heavy correction work...for light swirls removal, both the DA and the Rotary work well. Using a DA is a lot less intense and thus can be somewhat more enjoyable. If your worried about removing too much clear, stick with the DA...though the rotary really doesn't remove much clear when used with a final finishing polish and a soft pad.

The real key to saving clear is to wash as carefully as possibly so you don't have to remove much when polishing.
