Monster Energy Drink Low Calorie (Blue Can) vs Clear Coat

Hey everyone!

Just got a new S2000 a few days ago and while driving my low calorie monster energy drink spilled inside the car when i opened it (Must have been shaken up) i proceeded to chunk it out and got drink on my door and a lil on rear quarter panel. Since my car was covered in dust/dirt/etc and needed to be washed before quick detailing I simply got my microfiber out from the trunk and patted dry a couple of the spots. This was 2 days ago and I finally have the opportunity to wash/clay/wax but was wanted yalls opinion on if I accidentally left any of the energy drink on the paint and didn't remove until 2 days after the incident if I could have incurred any clear coat damage? I'm thinking not but wasn't sure since a few of my detailing friends said that Coke was pretty corrosive to clear coat and to remove it asap (although this may not even contain the ingredient that coke does that is corrosive) today is the earliest opportunity I have to wash her since I'm afraid to quick detail when pretty dusty to avoid marring. FYI the Monster contains only 6g total sugar, an energy blend, and caffeine. I probably seem pretty OCD but arn't we all??? :) Thanks bros.

*After reading the ingredients on the can, the acids include: Citric Acid, Sorbic Acid, and Benzoic Acid

Looking at my drink paint damage index cross reference sheet, I see the window for Monster being 12-36 hours, so you may be close, but take a look at your paint to be sure... and welcome to the forum.

You should be fine buddy. You'll fit in around here very well with that kind of caution displayed by your clear coat healthiness, though.

If its carbonated it probably contains phosphoric acid.

Excellent for aluminum brightening, fallout removal, and not so great if it dries on paint. I would imagine the glucose and sucrose polymers add a bit of a protective buffer though. :)

Hey everyone! Sorry for the late response, have been out of the state for a few weeks... I have thoroughly inspected the paint in ever possible angle/light/etc. and can not see a single problem with the clear coat/paint. I would be worried about a full calorie "green M" can of Monster as it has 52 grams of sugar compared to the 2 grams of sugar in the low calorie (Blue M) can of Monster that sprayed all over the car. I gave her a good hand wash, clay bar, light compoud, polish, and 2 coats of Meg's NXT 2.0 Tech Wax and she looks better than ever. I would not be too worried about paint damage as long as you get it off within a few days.
