Money laundering amongst pro detailers.

I met a coupla professional detailers and they're now driving the latest BMW series5!!!

Reason??

Certain service-related business do not have a rigidly fixed price.

(eg: wedding centres/parlours, pro car detailing, beauty salons etc).

the pricing can be very flexible, depending on what the customer wants.

Hypothetical Scenario:

I'm a big-time super-rich business person involved in illegitimate businesses.

Each day, I have $10,000 coming in from 1 of my many "companies".

I'll divide the cash into $2500 x 4 portions.

Portion 1 ($2500) goes to Gigondaz.

My employee goes to Gig giving him $2500 for "detailing services" rendered.

Gig issues a receipt for $2500.

Gig takes this $2500 to a "detailing prdts" shop (No such shop really. It's just 1 person sitting in a small office owned by ME) and buys $2000 worth of products which are non-existent. "Shop" issues receipt of $2000. Gig keeps $500 for himself as commision.

If the $$$ is huge, Gig will request to use my Ferrari for 3mths, and pretend he's the owner, driving round town and showing off. That's OK, cos I hv lots of luxury cars to loan!

On the same night, the "shop" hands the $2000 to me, as revenue of that day, selling "detailing prdts". I am the owner of the "shop"!!!

So, this $2000 is finally clean as it's seen as legit income from a legit-formed company.

That's why, I have many professional detailers who "work for me", earning huge commisions. My wife runs a wedding salon/parlour (vs detailing centre) and a beauty salon, and she does the same thing for me too. She writes huge receipts amounting to $20,000 for "wedding dress from Spain and outdoor photography in Jamaica etc! These wedding parlors and salons will buy "supplies" from a "shop" owned by my son or daughter. Cleaned-up money still comes back to daddy!!!:heelclick

Incentives to the detailer:

1. Commision

2. I'll put a few of my exotic cars in the detailers shop (as a form of commission) to make his shop look good.

3. I'll be a small minority partner in the Gig's business and pump in some money to upgrade the shop.

4. All my sneaky underworld friends will send their expensive rides to Gig for detailing.

Life is great for the detailer cos he's hard at work everyday and only needs to issue fictitious receipts and make fictitious purchases.

(The above is a scenario only...and yes, I've been approached by these guys many times:grinno:)

Aren't the products supposed to be taxed?

Everything is all fun and games until someone snitches and the IRS is on your back....or worse.

I like to sleep at night, so I hope they have a good time in their 5 series--I will get mine the ol' fashioned way.....buy it a few years old and put an autopian detail on 'er! :D

Well having some friends in the construction business (lol and I mean literally) you'd be surprised how easily things like that becomes a non-issue.

Risk vs. reward. My friends don't bother because, well side from being religious they don't see a need

That is a pretty funny, albeit realistic, scenario. Unfortunately, real life scenarios such as this are what helps to give this industry a bad name. There was actually a local 'detail' company who was involved in drugs. Well, he got busted and was all over the local newspapers. That type of negative press is what makes it more difficult for law abiding and legit operations to succeed. Even after two years or more his business still shows up in online search results.
