Moderate Swirling Toyota Black -- recommendations?

Any product recommendations for moderate swirling on Toyota black. From what I read, there appears to be difference in opinion as to whether the clear is hard or soft. I know to start with the least abrasive and work up if it needs it, but look to recommendations as to what sort of cut I should start with.

TIA

I'm one of those guys that feels I will not know for sure whether particular car in front of me is soft or hard and how much until I try it. So, if that was me standing there, I would not look to jumpstart the cut, I really would pick least abrasive thing that can be tried by hand and work my way up from there.

I have done a pretty heavily swirled 04' Sequoia, and I would say the pant is about average. Wasn't soft enough for the MF to marr the paint when removing polish(like some late model BMW's I have done), but not like Audi hard or anything. I used OHC via PC on a cutting pad and it took out 90-95% of the swirls, but some deeper marring couldn't be corrected, even with two passes. From what I have read, though, Toyota paint is supposed to be pretty soft. Didn't seem all that soft to me.

Thinking back, I can only remember doing a Toyota Corolla, probably a 2005, and I was able to correct the minor-medium marring with optimum polish @1500. I would say the paint was on the soft side, but not overly soft. If something light doesn't cut it, literally, then step it up a notch until you get the desired result.

If that will tell anyone anything single stage on my '91 Supra was anything but soft. That thing was just standing there ignoring my effort with Cyclo.

I have three toyotas... 00 Spyder, 00 Tundra and 05 Prius, all seem to be pretty hard to me.

What this all tells you? That only way you will know for sure what is paint like on particular car is by checking it yourself hands on.

Yes, it really depends on a number of factors: The year, model, if it is clear coated, where it's built etc...
