Mobile up and Running - just need customers now

After about 6 years of wanting to start a mobile auto detailing business I finally followed through. This will be a part time gig for me due to I like my day job and I live in KS. I'd like to post some pictures but for some reason every time I try to post pictures it fails, so this is a list of what I have.

  • Business Name: Hudd's Mobile Auto Detailing, "At Your Door Auto Care"
  • $500,000 in General Liability Insurance
  • Business Cards
  • Price List
  • Have KS sales tax ID - since KS requires you to pay sales tax on auto detailing
  • 16 year old Son as Labor
  • 2008 Dodge 4x4 Hemi - Black Pearl Paint - DG 601 and 105
  • 250 Gallon Lesco tank and frame
  • 3650 Husky Generator with Subaru engine
  • Carpet Extractor, which is actually the same unit you can rent from Home Depot - not exactly what I wanted but it gets the job done with the upholstery attachment - good thing is I can clean my house carpets with this as well.
  • Rigid 5 hp small vacuum
  • Flotech 350/g per hour pump - the power washer wouldn't work being gravity fed, so I had to purchase a pump.
  • New Rigid Power Sprayer with Subaru engine
  • I am still working on getting my supplies in order I have some DG, Meg clay, NXT 2.0, and some other one step waxes. In addition, MF towels, applicator pads, buckets, wash mitts, tire dressing, carpet spot cleaner, carpet brush, wheel brush, chrome polish, etc.
  • Gotta get some of those Cobra MF towels and some trim plastic case products, additional wax's etc.
  • Also still need to purchase a PC and pads

You have probably noticed the Home Depot theme, but I had to sacrifice on some of the brands I wanted in order to get up and running with the credit card - lol! Eventually, I am sure it'll all work itself out, but I have procrastinated long enough no more excuses....

Now bring on the customers!

:dcrules

Buy things you need as you go. No point in throwing all the cash out at one time to get everything you may never need. When something comes up where you need some different tools/equipment that you do not already have, then you can purchase them. I have seen a few max out their line of credit trying to have it all at one time.

Sounds like you are on your way...I wish you a lot of luck!

+1.. I've been doing great part-time with detailing, sometimes mobile sometimes garage, but I plan to going all out like this soon and setting up a nice big van with everything I would need.

Best of luck !

Hey Congrates! Hope it goes well for you! I procrastinated myself for a long time also. Then started with the intent of being mobile and doing aircaft only (being that is my specialty).... Well in the process of getting started I pitched my idea to this buddy of mine thats the head of maintenance for the U.S. Border Patrol down here. He loved it and got me the contract for a 3 stations 183 vehicles plus 33 K-9 units and just basic wash and interior vacuum! ive been soooo busy just with that contract I havent had time to do private auto or aircraft detailing! :D Being mobile is the best thing I ever did! :rockon Your not gonna regret going mobile. :bigups

Congrats on the BIZ :yay I'm not mobile by any means, but I do offer it to customers from time to time.

Also keep the 08 BLACK PEARL HEMI SHIGGY SHINY :bigups

Just in case you were wondering. SHIGGY is not a curse word, just a little EBONICS from THA T-MAC
