what are you using as your mobile set up? I'm not worried about a equipment, i'm curious if you're rolling around a truck and trailer or a van or just a pick up truck?



I'm a start up company and I really want a truck and trailer so i can daily drive the truck and hook up a trailer when i need to do a job. But trucks, particularly 4WD ones are freaking expensive for the newer, lower milage ones. I'd like to get something in the 8-10k range but that brings up stuff that are almost 11 years old and over 100k miles.



I'm looking at GM trucks-really that's all I want to buy. So does anyone have any testimonials of their old silverados or S10's never dying on them after 200k miles?
 
None of the above. With ONR and waterless washes, there is no need for those types of set-ups, unless you are doing commercial/fleet washes. I use a 2008 Scion xB. I can fit everything I need, and it gets very good gas mileage.
 
My detail vehicle is a 2002 Cadillac EXT. My avatar 145k miles. I carry everything from ONR,generator,pressure washer,Aztec Hot Rod, wet/dry vac,Flex,rotory,

Nomad H2O washer,and most of thr latest products on the market. Including Waterless Products. I have leather and cloth repair kits also.I went to a training seminar at Detail King with Nick Vacco and company. Great training session,picked up some added profit areas. I do not care for the trailers,reason being storage when it's not being used. My vehicle is in my garage. Just my personal preference.
 
I actually use the enormous trunk of my Cutlass. I use customer's water and electricity. If I actually need almost all my things I use my parent's Volvo station wagon.

winner! I use a nissan xterra, ONR and all my stuff fits neatly inside the suv
 
I think Van would be the most practical. When you are tired or are suffering from a back pain, you wouldn't have to climb and crawl into the bed to reach for your supplies. I have done it while volunteering for a local construction and I wish we had a van!
 
I have an 02 ford explorer. And I only use that right now because it's paid off LOL. I'm in the process of downsizing my equipment. (don't need a huge air compressor or a my Mytee GP 100 most of the time) I could honestly fit everything I need to detail in the truck of an average car. Looked at a Acura TL the other day that was nice and tempting. the explorer sucks on gas. (not as bad as my 07' avalanche did but it's still bad enough.)

Consider what exactly it is that you need to bring. Generally I carry two 5-Gallon buckets, one with my DA inside and spray bottles hooked along the edge, another with a stack of pads and more spray bottles hooked along the edge. A shop vac. My rotary, my Meguiar's bag which is filled with most of my go-to products (pro clay, M16, M80, M105, M205, Odor Eliminator) some hand applicators and some brushes. Bigger brushes get thrown in, a full package of folded MF's and a handful of odd disposable rags for metal and wiping up messes. I will throw in a few more things if I know/suspect they may be necessary. All of that can fit can easily fit into a medium-large trunk.



If you need a water reclamation system, a water tank, your own electricty source, a steamer, an extractor and an ozone generator then you may actually need a Dodge Sprinter or some type of van. What kind of mobile business, exactly, do you run? One like mine or one like the one I later mentioned?
 
Well,

I'd like to offer the full gammut of detailing. Such as steam-vac'ing interiors and engine detailing, power washing for sure, but i'm really diggin' the ONR solution. I would like to show up to a company's parking lot, set up and go w/out having to plug anything into a wall or spigot



A sprinter might be overkill, i'm kinda thinking of an HHR Panel version. They have rubber molding on the rear section and no back seats.
 
I have a 2002 GMC Denali with 22" wheels. I also have a 5X8 trailer with 150 gal water tank, Generator, and power washer. I like my mobile rig except for the 12mpg on the Denali...but it turns heads.
