sorry if this has been covered a few times, but i'm still pretty new to this section.

what do you guys bring with you on a mobile detail?

usually i bring:

2 buckets

1 ONR

1 Car wash soap (usually a meg's)

1 sheepskin wash mitt

1 HD grout sponge

1 well brush

1 leather cleaner conditioner & finger nail brush

1 ONR QD

1 ONR Clay Lube

1 drying MF

3 16x16 MF towels

1 Water Based Tire Shine 1:1

1 Simple green APC diluted pretty good

1 Poter cable with light polish and white pad

1 Paste Wax

1 Optimum Spray wax

1 Optimum OS

I find myself in need of products sometimes that I don't have with me at the time :( or I'll have extra products just taking up space in my trunk.

Oh, today I was at my day job and an older gentleman came in with a red c5 vette for an air check, one of my other co-workers got it and i was thinking to myself the whole time "man, that'd be a good client, i'd like to detail that car"...well he left and it turns out he was looking for a mobile detailer and hasn't been able to find anyone yet!! he even gave the tech that checked his air in one (1) tire 5 dollars, im thinking he was loaded! :( :( :( ...sorry just had to let that one out

Just a quick glance. You have clay lube, but no clay listed.

It really depends on the detail that I am doing, but I take various polishes along, glazes, AIOs and I have Wet/Dry sand paper of various grits. (800-2000)

I carry all my products with me. I store them at my house in milk crates so all i have to do is pick up my 4 milkcrates, 2 buckets, and halogens and im on the road.

I bring almost everything with me because some times when i see the car i change my mind as to what product combo will best suit the car.

THE KEY TO BEING MOBILE IS UTILIZING THE MOST OUT OF EVERY PRODUCT - as in using different dilutions of APC for different areas of the car. There are a lot of compounds that are pad dependant, so by using a light compound with a heavy cutting wool, you just made 2 products out of one, and so on!

I have all my 5 gallon buckets in the garage and bring 32oz bottles of everything I need, tons of MF towels, 2 buckets, Halogens, polisher, shop vac, my snap on seat to roll around on, food, drinks, wet sand, plenty of pads, tape, razor blades, pet hair roller, tons of brushes, extension cords, air compressor, and the list could go on and on.

1 milk crate with all my concentrates APC, ONR, Degreaser etc.. in case I need to make dilutions

1 clear plastic rubbermaid tote with all my MFs, terry towels, individually sealed applicators, pads and all my interior cleaning brushes and tools(qtips, toothpicks etc..)

2 rubbermaid tubs split into interior and exterior(so I can pack up when one is done) with

Interior cleaners, dressings, conditioners

Fine and medium clays and various QDs and lubes

Exterior washes, wheel cleaners and trim and tire dressings

Within 1 tote is a smaller tote with all my LSP type products(prewax cleaners, glazes, sealants and waxes)

1 handy tote with 8oz each of #83, 80, 7. Menz SIP and 106ff 3m UF, IPA, distilled water

vac

100ft hose and ext cord

PC

3 buckets, 1 with exterior cleaning tools, TAW, APC for wells, my foamer and 2-3 car washes

GS and Lambswool mitts

Coke zero on ice and plenty of food

As David already mentioned, if you're mobile, you can never bring too much. I bring everything with me loaded in my truck and on my trailer. Also, I make sure to bring things like tools (to fix equipment, etc.), and a few other things to make sure I can fix just about any problem I may run into out in the field, including vehicle issues.

Hey, you guys are forgetting one of the most important things of all, lots of food. I always take along plenty of drinking water, a banana, orange juice, crackers and a few other pieces of fruit. You can never have too much food and water when you are out there on the road working.

Bring everything you can possibly fit in your work vehicle.

And here are two essentials you can't go without:

1. Jump box. Weak batteries die all the time during a detail. Don't hand back your customer's vehicle with a dead battery.

2. A basic tool kit with sockets, screw drivers, pliers, etc. You never know what trim and accessories you'll have to remove, replace, fix during a detail.

Always good to have extra business cards, newsletters and other printed business related items. And how about all of those promotional items, such as pens, keychains, calculators and calendars that contain your business name and contact information. Can't leave home without them.
