Mmmmm... new headlight bulb goodness

I would never suggest that you get ricey blue bulbs that actually decrease your ability to see the roads. But not ever bulb with blue glass on it is going to produce bright blue light.

I had an issue with the bulb on my motorcycle not being bright enough, so I went on ebay in search of some Sylvania Silverstars or Phillips Vision Plus bulbs, both of which have been awesome bulbs in the past. In process of looking for those bulbs I found a guy selling bulbs that he said were whiter and longer lasting than the competition. In fact, he even guaranteed it with a warranty if the bulbs failed and I was disappointed. Silverstars disappoint people all the time and they don't offer any kind of warranty, so I figured I'd give the guy a shot. I ordered a set of bulbs for my Pilot and a set for my bike. The bike only needed one, so I put the spare in the glovebox of the Pilot in case I needed it on the road sometime.

When the bulbs came they looked exactly as advertised. They were definitely not cheap looking and they appeared to be of good quality. The proof was going to be in the light output though. MAN! What a difference these things make!! The light is bright white and very HID-esque. I can't do HIDs in my Pilot because of the reflector housings, but after getting these bulbs I no longer even desire to contemplate a conversion. The put out just the right kind of light for what I need it for. And from a distance they aren't blue at all. They are bright white and very very effective at lighting up the road. I've never been flashed once with them.

On the bike they worked out terrific. The stock bulb was barely able to light the road, but this one was just amazing. I recently sold that bike and bought something else. The first thing on my list of changes was to get a set of these bulbs for it. I mistakenly ordered another set of H4s instead of H7s, so it took longer than expected to get the change made. Today I got them put in and the difference is incredible. I'll have to post light output in the dark pictures later, but here is a comparison just in the housing.

I wouldn't ever promote something I didn't believe in, and I believe in these bulbs. I've had them in my Pilot for two or three months now without a single problem. I don't really expect problems either. They just seem to be really high quality bulbs.

This is the ebay seller that I bought them from. I give him nothing but top marks for a fantastic product when it comes to bulbs. I've used Silverstars and Vision Plus bulbs for many years and these are every bit as good. If you are looking for new bulbs and feel like experimenting, then these are definitely bulbs to try out. :10:

Thanks for the heads up. I've used Silverstar's for the last two cars now and never had a problem. I talked my friend into getting them and she has had nothing but problems with them burning out. We have looked at a few different kinds of bulbs but don't want that blue light. I'll have to send her a link to the seller. Less than $20 shipped, can't hurt to give them a try.

Yup. It's more like $15 shipped. That is less than the cost of one Silverstar. I didn't have any issue with Silverstars either, but if I can get the same performance for a quarter of the cost then I am all for it.

These are the low beams. It might appear to be a little brighter than they actually are, but you know how it is taking pictures at night... That is why the Reflex pictures are blurry too. I'm not a great night photographer. Anyway, I've never ever been flashed with them and the visibilty is awesome. Even in the rain and snow it is great. Most of the time with the blue bulbs you lose visablity in those conditions, but not with these.

Are the light bulbs still working out good for you?

I've got a different vehicle now, so I'm looking for some new bulbs.

Thanks!

Yup. They are still in the Pilot and being used on a regular basis. I'm not finding anyhot spots or melting points or anything. The light is still bright white and very nice in the rain. After a couple hundred hours of driving with them on at night I can still give two thumbs up. I would have bought a set for my Corolla when I bought it, but I had some 9006 Silverstars in my garage that I put in instead. The light from these ebay bulbs is very comporable to the Silverstars. I'll have to get a shot side by side sometime to show the similarity.

Sounds good to me. I'll get a pair on order next week. I was thinking of the Silverstar Ultra's, but these are much more wallet friendly. :)

Thanks for the info!

I've always liked Silverstars, too. BUT...they are pricey, and since they're overdriven, they go out all too soon...not to mention the chance of damaging your wiring (small chance, I know).

I'm surprised these have such good output...being that the glass is tinted. I'd always heard that tinted glass on bulbs hinders the output. I'll have to bookmark this and get a set.

I just put in the new SilverStar Ultra's in one of our vehicles. If they don't hold up, I may have to give these a shot.

Thanks for the info. :bigups
