Missing Post Count

It's from the forums that were deleted (Vendor Kudos and Forum Feedback). Apparently any posts you had in there were subtracted from your post count.

Two forums I rarely posted in though. I don't think that would account for that many posts but thanks for the suggestion.:)

I don't really the relevance of post count to be honest.....500,1000,etc....what does it matter?

I was just looking to find out what happened. I don't want the count boosted or anything.

One of the sites I moderate at doesn't let the members see their post counts. Only the mods can see it. I actually kind of like it that way on that site. On a site like this the post count doesn't always mean that you know more or less than anyone else. Personally I think the posts in the OT forums shouldn't even count towards your post count. On LegacyGT.com they are using vbadvanced and they can adjust it to do that. That would be a much better way of knowing if someone is just here for the OT discussion or here to help. I don't know if the current vBulletin software allows that, but I think it would be helpful.

I emailed "membership @ autopia-carcare.com" on Tuesday about this no reply yet but at least I know what has happened to my posts

:nervous2: Oh no! My whole autopia persona is based on my post count!

Shawn-I have over 20,000 posts on another board and that was after losing over 10,000 when they switched to VB3.0 (one of the beta versions). That board gets so much traffic the main forum is dumped every 48 hours and the beta V3.0 would reduce post count each time they did the dump.

BTW, some people on that board are well over 100,000 posts!

I strongly disagree - it's a rough but useful indicator of at least experience on the board and often correlates well with knowledge.

Scott- I have been to the "other" board and seen some of those crazy post counts. The first time I saw post counts that high I thought that it must have been an error.

Lee- I agree with your statement and disagree. If that makes any sense. If you have been on this board for a while you know who is always there to help. I try to look at the knowledge and the way that the knowledge is delivered to make an assessment on how knowledgeable any particular poster is.

One major difference between this board and one other board that I used to visit often is that the off topic forums here are not as heavily posted in. On the other board we had posters who posted almost entirely in the off topic forums. So you had people with thousands of posts but only a small fraction of the posts were in the main forums.

Some of your comments absolutely amaze me.

So if you have a member A that joined in 2004 with 500 post vs another member B that joined 2003, with say 300 posts, the member with 500 is more experienced and knowledgable?

Let's explore a little deeper... 300 of member A's 500 post are "attaboys", :xyxthumbs, :bow , :shocked , and :2thumbs:. Absolutely nothing to do with detailing. But member B has 300 strong posts (helping, product reviews, etc.) You going to still tell me that member A is more experienced and knowledgable?

IMHO, post count is not an indicator of knowledge or experience.
