Mirka abralon: where to buy

I was wondering where the users of mirka abralon discs gets theirs from?

I bought from specialtytools.com and well the prices are good and you dont have to buy 20 at a time. The downside is $9.00 shipping charge for ground on a 6x6x6 box that weighs less than a pound with the box...Im not usually a bargain shopper but that in my book is pushing the limit. Almost as bad as buying something from Ebay.

Anyways I was wondering if anybody orders online where they go.

Thank you,

Scott

I hope I'm right on this, kind of a shot in the dark, but...

I got mine thru a Meg's distributor: Kevin Brown, aka iamwaxman. Wish I had his email for you...

Do you have a Finishmaster outlet near you? They can get Mirka products, and have about 1200 locations nationwide.

Good Luck!

Thanks Jim! I have not checked around town yet. I think we have a finishmaster here so that is good news. Thanks again for your help.

Scott- FM is located just off 131 at 28th, west of the highway right beside the first gas station on the north side. BTW, what are these discs used for? Never heard of them.

Wetsanding. I use 'em up to 4000 grit, @ 6000 rpm pneumatic DA sander.

Amazing on contoured surfaces.

Not for the casual user!

What kind of d/a are you using with the abralons, Jimmy?

When I spoke with the regiional sales rep, he said

a lightwieght machine should be used with the pads. I know

someone used a PC with the pads, but I'm told a PC

is not really recommeded to be used. I think

it's a weight issue as well as a electrocution risk, since the

pads are meant to be used wet. All the pnuematic d/as at

my dad's shop are the older heavy units, and none support

hook and loop.

I use the 'complete' Mirka System, including the Bulldog (pnuematic) Sander.

Here's a link to the folks who hooked me up with the Mirka "Fast Finish System":
