I used my rotary for the first time with a Lake country white pad with 3M polishing glaze for dark colors #05996 and My Black Jeep looks like new!! At least it did until I seen it in direct sunlight. There is very light swirls like a haze. Is there anthing I can do next to finsh it off or did I do something wrong?

Thanks

Sal

You might've induced some holograms. This isn't uncommon with rotaries, especially when you're just getting started using one. Holograms will usually only show up in natural sunlight and they look like very light, rainbow-effect haze. Simplest solution is to repolish with a PC to remove this light marring.

I just make it a policy to follow my rotary work with the PC/Cyclo, especially if I can't pull the vehicle out into the sun to inspect it.

What if you don't have a PC on hand? Can you take these holograms out by hand?

I observed this exact phenomenon in my car's new paint job. Pulled the car out into bright sunlight last weekend and saw these strange, reflective swirl marks. Very slight though and only seen in bright, bright sunlight. Most of the time I don't see anything at all.

I don't have a PC and plan to Zaino the car this weekend. Is there anything I can apply to minimalize these swirls or should I just leave alone until I get a PC?

Sometimes you can remove holograms by hand, but it always depends on how severe they are and how hard the paint is. Neoprufrok, an old-time member here, has holograms on a black Audi that he can't get out even with a PC! But that's an extreme case. ScottWax has removed holograms many, many times by hand.

Try a fairly aggressive polish, at *least* Meg's #80. I'd use my standard recommendation of PI-III RC followed by PI-III MG. Work a small area until you get it right, and plan on it taking a bit of time and effort.

I'd do what I could to remove/minimize them before applying a LSP.
