Ministry of Detail : 1995 Mitsubishi Montero LS

Hello,

My customer recently purchased this lovely Montero with only 66,000 miles on it. Apparantly, it was purchased in the US, then lead most of its life in Japan before being brought back again. When I saw it in the daylight, it didn't look too bad. But the lights told a different story. Apparantly one of the doors was also repainted, something the owner did not know. I also found out the hard way that it was a single stage paintjob, lovely! All my pads, applicators and MFs are now black as well, hah!

Joke of the day: my partner was doing the interior and must have accidentally hit the door lock. So the doors were locked about halfway through the detail. BUNK! We had to wait until the customer picked it up to open it up again, and by that time there wasn't really time for pictures. So I only have a few afters, unfortunately.

Let's see:

1) Wash with CG Citrus Wash 'n Gloss and ShMITT

2) Clay with Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay

3) Dry with Cobra Guzzler

4) PO85RD on white LC CCS w/ Flex on 5 (multiple passes)

5) CG Jetseal 109 (sat for 2.5 hours)

6) Lusso Oro (twice in one hour intervals)

Enjoy!!!

After the hood was done. You can see how black my white CCS pad is. Lovely!

Looks great! I'm working my way around my '97 Montero SR with double the miles. Mine's got a clearcoat though (and clearcoat failure on two panels. Doh!). I've put 33" tires on her and actually utilize her off-road abilities when I can. I'll throw some pictures up if I ever finish.

Sweet! How do you like the Lusso Oro?

I think it's a very good wax, especially for the money. On and of is a real breeze and I think the look of it is beautiful. It's a hard wax, so you really have to rub your foam applicator to get some on there, but that ensures I don't cake it on too thick.

I highly recommend it!

Don't worry that you did not get the replys you expected. Where I live the weather hinders detailing, especially if your mobile like I am. You did a great job on the truck.

looks great, got a few black scuffs in the silver trim still around the car tho..

If I could polish paint back in places where it's down to the bare plastic, I would...

:rofl

The silver bumper corners are definitely a paint it situation. I've done some touch-ups with sem aerosols and toned with other lacquer base paint, but of course it's got to be pretty exact. Was a lot easier when all the bumpers and moldings were black.

Reminds me of some customers on some big hole in a seat, "Can't you just put a patch there and make it disappear"

Hey P1et, good work! I wanted to adivse you of a great product for the lock out problem, too. I bought a master lockout kit frim my MAC tool guy and it had everything to open up about 99% of the cars out there. It is a kit of several oddly shaped rods with instructions and diagrams. It has saved my a$$ and wallet many times.

Looks like this one: Grand Master Lock Out Kit LT500 - LOC-500
