Milky clear-bra

A friend of mine is having a problem (havn't seen the car - it's an 04/05 volvo).

It came with a clear-bra from the factory. The clear-bra is now looking milky in some areas (not yellow, but milky). It's garage kept and hasn't been washed with anything funny (other than normal non-autopean misabuse, heh :grinno: ). So 3 questions

1 - What would cause a clear-bra to turn milky in coloring?

2 - Can it be polished/sanded out? (granted this would effect the UV properties of it, but it might help it out temporarily for sale)

3 - How can one remove a clear-bra that's been attached for 4-5years? I assume some application of heat and a glue-type solvent?

Heat it up and pull it off. Use 3m adhesive remover to remove adhesive that sticks to paint.

You may try a mils SSR on it first. U?se a ROB on a slow speed. DO NOT get too aggressive. You can also try a plastic cleaner preferably with no abrasives or very mild.

I'd just buff it out! If you guys are trying to sell it then there should be no issues. Just if using a rotory make sure you use slow speeds. Good luck!

Like I said, I havn't seen it, but wouldn't milky suggest some type of UV failrue in the plastic? I know normally it'd be yellow, but...........

Obviously at this point I'm not afraid to take a buffer and polish to it, I'm just wondering if milky signifies anything. The first thought in my mind was oxidization, but I wondered if clear-bra can oxidize? I mean, I know headlights can oxidize......

I showed him several pictures of oxidized headlights and he said it looked exactly like that. So oxidization, but I've never heard of a clear-bra oxidizing before. But I guess they can?
