Yeah, I'm a newbie...

For simplicity, is there any reason to avoid the Mr. Clean Auto Dry system for washing my car? The only review I have read was in Consumer Reports, and they said it worked well.

I have used it, but I have never used the supplied soap, which those who have complained that it left a film on the car (windows particularly). My complaint with it is that the (deionized) water flow is so anemic, and that I have bought cartridges that malfunctioned and clogged up right away. The idea is good, not so sure about the execution. I believe some have put "regluar" car wash soap into the gun; the Mr. Clean soap has extra sheeting agents in it to get the water to run off the car, which is what leaves the film, apparently.

I have used the system and found it to be a little lacking for what i wanted to get done.

if you have purchased the system go ahead and see if it works for you. if you have not purchased the system i recommend that you save your money for products that do work as advertised. this is not one of them.

I think it works fine for its intended market. In my case, as others mentioned the final rinse water flow is so anemic that it takes several minutes to rinse the car properly. I am much faster with my towels to do the final dry.

It is helpful if washing in the sun, but again the final rinse is the weak part. I don't dislike the soap, but I don't like it much either.
