which towels are actually better to use washing and drying your car. I dont know whether to buy 100% cotton ones from like bed bath and beyond or get micros from poorboys and i have a black car so i really dont want to mare it up. what do you guys use?

Definatly go with a waffle weave towel from poorboys. Cotton towels will most likely mar up your finish. NO bath towels on the cars finish. haha.

Definitely go with the microfiber! Cotton is a not a good idea anymore...keep it in your bathroom. Poorboy's has a nice microfiber starter set.

Microfiber towels...definitely. I have some Pakshak ones, and the new Meguiar's MF towels. Both are excellent.

I've yet to experience marring with cotton towels. I'm talking about Meguiar's 100% terry cotton towels, not bathroom towels. As long as there's no dirt, they won't scratch, but there's no denying microfibers are superior 90% of the time. Pakshak and Meguiar's ultimate wipes are my favorites.

If you were thinking Poorboy's MF then you should get those. Poorboys makes some of the nicest MF that I've used. I love the Mega Plush, but they're all of very high quality. It's getting hard to find a really high quality cotton towel these days, all of the detailing suppliers have now are MFs. There are still some very high quality cotton towels that you can get from the same people as you products, but it's easier to just go with MFs, you know that the towels will be good for every job you have and you know that you can wash all of your detailing towels at the same time.

I have a combo of both and find that I like cotton for somethings like wheel wells, engines, trunks, door jambs, etc.....For finish work the MF are about the best, also for drying the car the waffle weave MF are great. I also got a MF buffing mitt from PB that I use to buff inside of the car that I have really started to like.
