Microfiber Mitts

That goes without saying. I was just using them as a reference. I was asking more about performance though.:thx

I was in target and they have their house brand version that looks the same as Griots. I was in a hurry and did not have much time to take a look. I have the same question as Mose, are these better or worse than sheepskin? What are the pros/cons?

I personally prefer wash pads to mitts. I use cotton chenille, the defunct Meg's QD pad, the Bone, etc. I also have some of the aforementioned "muppet head" Target/Vroom wash pads, and although they have low-nap MF on the other side (meaning that I really only wash with the floppy side, although the other side is good for certain areas), I find them pretty good, and they are cheap; only $2.99 ea.

I have used the griot's mf mitts, they do look identical to the ones at target. In my opinion pros/cons wise the mf mitt doesn't slide as well as the chenille, however I think it has slightly more cleaning power because of that. Not sure about marring but it didn't slide all that easily, even on freshly detailed paint.

Like any other wash/dry media, I'd CD-test (both mitt and CD wet with wash solution; don't test 'em dry ;) ). With all wash stuff that's proven to be safe, I sure wouldn't use anything that mars, even if a CD *is* softer than most automotive paint.

Generally, MF stuff is OK for washing, the only potential problem being if it holds onto some abrasive contamination and drags it across the paint (the usual cause of wash-induced marring).

FWIW, judging *entirely* by their looks, and *not* having tried them...I don't think I'll be using them. I simply don't see them working as well as, let alone better than, my current BHB/mitt (sheepskin or plush MF or chenille)/foamgun combos. But again, that's just my opinion and it's *not* based on first-hand experience :o

I tried the wash pad that Target has and it works quite well. I also purchased the wash mitt but havent used it yet. I still prefer lambswool to anything I've tried so far.

nothing is better than the shmitt = ]

Its both durable (justin has loged 100+ cars and its still in amazing condition) and inexpensive. for something that will last at least 5 times longer (probably more) than your typical fiber mits... 12 bucks is a steal.

The ShMITT Multi-purpose Foam Mitts

I'm going to do a write up on how they work with onr/qew... but I want to wash it a few more times to ensure there is no maring going on = ]

Though before I got a hold of a shmitt Target's 5.99 MF mit was my fav. Though after 10 washes with ONR they start to look pretty ugly, but still usable.

^^ Really? I use the Vroom (Target) orange MF mitt. It holds a lot more soap than I could've ever imagined my defection Eurow sheepskin mitt ever holding. In fact, although it rinses crap off, I have to rinse it out quite a few times to get it completely free of soap after I'm done washing the car.

However, you should be aware that the Vroom mitt leaves a little lint... you won't really notice it on the car (as it isn't as bad as the orange Vroon MF (crappy) towels), but it does do so. Just a word of warning...

I used a similar MF mitt awhile back for a very short, short period. I found that they did an excellent job cleaning, but dirt would stick to the MF "fingers" and not migrate away to the center of the mitt - thus they had constant contact with the paint surface. I also used grout sponges - awesome ability to hold lubricious soap water - but came away with a similar feeling as the MF mitt. Undissolved dirt particles just did not have a place to go. I was afraid to use them on really, really dirty cars. So I am back using my trusty sheepskins mitts, but with a slight modification: I poke 3-4 small holes on each side of the sheepskin mitt and stuff a grout sponge inside. I can just squeeze the sheepskin mitt as I'm gliding the across the surface and slick, soapy solution comes out the holes providing the necessary lubricity. I know it's kinda dorky, but hey aren't we all anal-retentive about car care :D

I use a Viking MF wash mitt. It has a foam lining and holds way more soapy water than a sheepskin mitt. I think it cleans better too.
