Microfiber and Corrective Lighting - which?

What are you using for lighting? I am using a combo of 500watt and 1000watt halogens, but want something physically smaller. Any ideas other than a $500 Sun light?

Microfiber. I have 200 or so various Pakshak's, they are getting tired. Any suggestions?

If you're happy with just a spotlight, a $30 Brinkmann may work. I prefer a combination of the the Brinkmann and 500W Halogens.

For final inspection, a regular incandescent light in an otherwise dark shop. Not the most user-friendly thing in the world though..

My 3M SunGun is OK for some stuff, but it's not all *that* great for spotting marring.

On the MFs, I'd just get more PakShaks :D

This is what I've been doing. I almost always see something with the Brinkmann that I don't see with my Halogens.

I heard the Sun Gun was great for matching color when you cant take a car outdoors...

Not 100% worth it for correction.

I tend to think a Brinkman may be the way to go. The halogens are getting to be a hassle.

Have you looked into the infratech? Not exactly as cost effective as a Brinkmann, but possibly worth it.

I don't have any experience with them, DD has a sale going and I think they carry them.

MFs Pakshak, unless your unhappy with them.

I have an LED headlight (one of the lights that has a strap and goes around your head) picked it up at Big Lots for $10 I like it because it helps to really see what your workin on as you polish. I also have the 1000watt Haologens. I want to get the LED lights from Harbor Frieght and the Brinkman.

Excel detail has some great prices on MF towels I have not been disapointed.

as sal329 mentioned, go to your local biglots and they have a combo LED light pack that comes with a headlamp and flashlight for $10. you can also purchase them seperately for $5 (i saw the dorcy brand as well)..

LEDs don't just light up the dark, they bright up the dark! This is the ideal set to keep in the house and the car for emergencies or whenever you need extra light in dim areas.

• With 17 LEDs, the anodized aluminum mini flashlight is only 4-5/8" long, yet it packs the power of much larger lights.

• 12 LED headlamp swivels 90º and has comfortable headband that allows for hands-free operation. Adjusts to 3 different brightnesses.

• LEDs last up to 100,000 hours; batteries not included.

Justin: You are doing the right thing right now.

Halogens + a Brinkmann is all I've needed for defect identification.

For MFs, Chemical Guys sells a nice selection, and in bulk, too.

That's my opinion too.

After Dave KG raved about his I just *had* to try it out (in my own shop on a known-quantity sample vehicle). Live and learn, sorta an expensive lesson though :o

sweet headlight.... any comparison to a sun gun?

I've always been thrilled with my Pakshak MFs but at the same time I'd like to try some other MFs as well. I may go the route of some Uber MFs from DD but I also love a good deal and when the time comes I'll probably go with who has a very plush towel with the best price.
