ive read and been told that all mf towels are not created the same. ive got over 100 mf towels in service and ive picked some up at autozone, walmart, and detail supply shop. some are really tight knit/firm and some soft/fuzzy.

is there really any difference between brands of mf towels?

if so what brands and where can i get some?

This is one of those everyone has an opinion topics. I'm sure a search will yield you hours of reading. I have opinions, but I'm sure the professionals here would be more trustworthy.

Out at Sema this year for the Detailing for Success seminar I was given some samples of the newest towels from Rob @ Towel Pro's. They are a very bright orange MF towel, 16x24 with a black satin edge, one side is fluffier than the other......After using them for the last couple weeks, I must say I like them and I would highly recommend them for anybody looking for a good quality towel, plus they are very affordable....

Here is a photo of of me using them on a Aston Martin Vanquish that I did last week....

Yes there are a lot of difference. Once you use Pakshak towels you won't look back. They will ship flat rate.

We would like to thank our customers for their patronage over the years. We would like to offer a special sale on our highly regarded Micropak micro fiber products. Thank you & Aloha! PakShak "Ohana" (Family)

Well, there are many places from which to buy your towels. There are many factors in what is better quality such as material...thread counts, weight per sq. meter, edging, etc. There are guys that like low knit and some prefer plush and shag carpet like towels. Some like to pay $$$$ for a towel, while others pay less- depends on source. China and Korea are the main producers and some China plants use threads from Korea. Some use German machines and some do not. Some split the fibers...most do, and some do not (won't absorb worth %$#@ if it's not split).

There are blends as well to take into account...polyester vs. polymide.

When I first started, I was shocked at the prices because I was seeing towels being brought in for under a dollar, but being sold for over 7. A good example: 2 suede bonnets for the Cyclo on one site costs $8.75 per set. Now, maybe this is not supposed to be shared, but I KNOW that a set, with some packaging, can be produced for about 49 cents! Therefore, you can buy a set for about $4.00 on some sites, which might be seen as normal. However, $7? Same with ww towels for drying...up to $24 when you can buy for under $8 the same material and size? Not sure how that all works out, but I guess as some will say, some people just like to spend more money.

In our own experience, it comes down to finding a source and if the customer service is solid, then it's a win-win.

That said, one of my detail buddies...a very high end one that you all respect, uses Costco towels on every detail. He will walk into Costco and tell the employee, "I want that pallet of towels." They work for him and he does very well. Another detailer in our same network group buys some for $10 for the same purpose. What is it all about? It's not what this guy and that guy use, it's not what is the best brand, or what is the difference. It comes down to personal preference and what you are willing to pay for the value of the towel.

ive used the search and read a handful of threads and still not sure which ones to go with. not looking to throw my money away but i dont mind spending a little extra to get a better product. main concerns are scratching and longevity

I attended the SEMA show this year where I was invited by the wonderful folks at Attention To Details (Renny & Dianne) to participate in the Detailing for Success seminar. At the seminar I had the chance to personally meet Rob from Towel Pro's where we were all given samples of his 16 x 24 bright orange MF, fluffy on one side and tighter, lower knit on the other. They have a soft black silk edging, very thick, fold in fourths nicely, and give great results. Best of all they are extremely well priced and affordable, I will be ordering some more while he has a special going on..

I will be adding them to my collection of various MF towels brands which I consider all tools for getting the job done right...

Here are some photos of me using them on a Aston Martin I did last week.....

I recently got a 3 pack of Monster MF's from Chemical Guys and I have to say these things are amazing. They are fluffy and soft yet pull the wax off the paint with incredible ease. These have become my favorite towels by far.

Checked that site..nice towels and I like how they put the gram weight in there. Still, David's comments are right on about quality and affordability. You can pay about half right now for the towels on that site elsewhere.

Hopefully, my reviewers will be done in a week or so and then a full review is being released and that will get some of the hesitant few to take them at $2 per towel.

if you want some of the same towels that CG's basically carries, then check out STN... Microfiber towel store

I checked out that STN site and for the same (530gsm) Microfiber Towel it costs $13 for 3 towels. CG is $9 for 3 towels. The only plus is the free shipping which puts it at a couple dollars cheaper.

STN seems to have raised their prices a little, but with the free shipping right now it balances out...

Good info to know Robert! Very informative. I often wonder what the real differences in MF is.
