MF Towels from Wal-Mart - Any comments?

Hello All,

I spotted some MF towels at my local Wal-Mart (of all places). They were about $12CDN (around $7.50USD) for 3 towels. They're 40cm by 30cm, or about 16" by 12". See attachment for a pic of the package. The brand on the package is "autoshine".

I haven't used MF towels before, so I don't really have much of a standard of comparison. Has anybody else used these? If so, what do you think of them compared to others available?

I'm considering ordering some from Neatitems, but if these are comparable in quality, cheaper, and locally available, I'd prefer to go with them.

Damn...wish you would have posted this earlier as I just ordered 100 towels from neatitems at wholesale just a couple of days ago.

I am going halves with a friend of mine...not sure if I want to go thirds. I am in Calgary.

The ones I have seen at Walmart and now Costco are good for glas but they aren't the terry variety that everyone here loves for buffing.

If you're interested in splitting the buy a bit, I'm game. I'm only interested in perhaps ten or so. If it's possible to take a share of the buy, what would be the cost?

10 wouldn't be a problem at all.

The ones I ordered were the larger 15x15 (I would have to recheck the size) but the cost was about $2.50 USD each as opposed to his website cost of around $6.95 USD.

I got 50 mint and 50 blue.

I could mail them to you or hold them here if you are ever in town.

I will be in Edmonton in a month or so I think.

You could Paypal me the money if mailed.

If still interested we can do it off the board.

Email me at [email protected].

I'm still wondering if anybody else has comments about these towels. I bought a 3-pack, and they seem OK, but I don't have much of a standard to compare to. 90 Autopians have viewed the picture - SOMEBODY has to have seen/tried these things. :nixweiss

Never seen that brand before....when you get some of the neatitems do a comparison and post your results.

Deemo is a true autopian! Good work sharing your MF buy.

I'll certainly post a comparison once I've received some of the Neatitems towels.

Many thanks to Deemo for letting me in on the buy!

I just received my Neatitems towels from Deemo! A very public thank-you to Deemo for letting me in on his bulk purchase! :xyxthumbs

Not a bad price either - $43.40 (Canadian - about $30USD) for 10 towels.

I'll post some pics once I've had a chance to work with them. So far, they're _definitely_ better than the Wal-Mart towels - larger, thicker, and plusher.

I have been using Wal mart/ Costco MF towles for aaaabout a year and liked them.

Last week somone posted the Neatitems website on this forum and recommended their MF towles.

I ordered $50 worth and got them today, I can't even compare them, the Neatitems are far superior, thick, terry like and I could not ask for a better towel.

It's funny, Walmarts everywhere must carry slightly different stock of some things. In the US they (apparently) carry somthing called Nicsand.

A while ago I bought a box of 3 (1 16x16, 2 12x12) + a glasses suede-type towlette for about $11 I think. The box is bluish and shows a lavender, light blue, and light green towel on the front, though the towels inside are deep pink, light pink, and light green. It says Supertek Micro Fiber with a little "As seen on TV" label(!), distributed by Ontel Products. It's a 70/30 Korean make. It was in the cleaning department with all the mops and stuff. I haven't tried them on anything or done a CD test on them, but right away I noticed they weren't as plush as the Turtle Wax MFs I got at Zellers. The nap is also about 1-2 mm shorter.

Hey Rook! Glad you like the towels!

How was the anniversary dinner?

Just got back into town and back online again.

My body is still hurtin' from trying to whip my mom's Acura back into shape - didn't have time for dad's E430.

And my wife's F150 is muddy from the country roads.

Ahhhh - the life of an Autopian is a busy one.

30 bucks for 10 towels!!! Damn! That is one great deal.:( :( Do you have any left deemo?

Email Neatitems and ask for his wholesale prices.

For purchases of 100 or more you will get wholsale prices.

Just get a few people to share a buy if in your area or someone who is willing to take the shipment and send it out to you.

The Neatitems cost on the towels is about $0.85 so he still has a good profit margin even selling at wholesale.

I am in Canada so I don't think it would be a good idea plus I am hogging the remaider of mine - sorry Al:(

I already shared out as much as possible.

Its ok, thanks thought deemo. I am praying my towels will get here, one day...

The dinner was fantastic (it cost $115) :scared

Glad to see you had fun with the Acura - it looked great when I saw it. I finally had time to wash the tree fuzz off of the Sentra, only to get rained on an hour later. Oh well. I also found a nasty scratch on the front bumper - it looks like my wife scraped against something, or something scraped against the car. I'll have to get some touch-up paint and see what I can do. I also noticed that after cleaning off the tree fuzz, the paint is no longer smooth - it's kind of bumpy, meaning it's time to get some clay. :D

Indeed, it is a busy life. Keeping the car "just perfect" seems impossible.

GAH! I just found this thread now! Too late to get in on that group buy in Calgary :(

Oh well. I just bought 3 different kind of MF towels:

1) Meguiar's Ultimate wipe: $9.95 at CanTire (Sale...reg $12)

- 40x40 cm (about 15x15 inches)

2) Simoniz MF towel: $5.50 at Cantire (Sale...20% off).

- 40x40 cm, but this is like the suede/glass polishing texture

and I don't think it'll be suitable for drying. I plan on

relegating this one to house duty or just doing the windows

of my Pro

3) Autoshine MF towels: 11.95 at Wal-Mart. There were 3 in the

box.

- 40x30 cm, but you get 3 of them in the box.

All the towels say they are 70/30. I have yet to use them yet due to the crappy rain we've been getting, but hopefully I can wash tomorrow and try them out.

Well............I can MAYBE part with a few more.

Email me at the address above.

You guys are pushing me to the edge of my MF breaking point!;)

Only for a fellow Calgarian.

A BIG thanks to Deemo for hooking me up with a few precious NeatItems MF towels! Thanks Deemo!! :bow :up

I have to say I was somewhat embarassed as my Black Protege was looking mighty ugly when I met up with Deemo. It hasn't been nice enough to wash, and I have to park outdoors :(

Just on visual inspection, the NeatItems MF seem to be really close to the same as the Autoshine ones from Wal-Mart, but perhaps a tiny bit more plush.

They are both definitely more plush than the Meguiar's Ultimate wipe that I bought from CanTire, but I'm not sure if they'll work any better or not. :nixweiss

Anyway, Thanks again Deemo!!

Really? I found a huge difference between the two. The Neatitems were thicker, larger, and more plush. And at bulk prices, they were about the same price as the ones from Wal-Mart. :D

My thanks again to Deemo, for hooking me up also. :down

I think you guys are spending too much!

I just ordered 35 MF towels and 6 waffel-weave towels from Tom Gong at JT International. He's an importer so you can save a lot by ordering directly from him.

Towels are $2 each.

Waffle-weave are $3.75 each.

They're all GREAT towels. All are 70/30 and they passed the CD test.

Do a search and you'll see that he has very positive feedback on this forum.

You can reach him at 888-989-4584.
