Metro-Vac

Ronkh

Wax Waster
I've had it for at least a year, if not longer. So this is over due.

If you've ever heard the saying "It'll suck the chrome off a trailer hitch." Well, this thing will suck the hitch off the truck.

It's incredible !

If anyone knows dogs, hair from a German Shepherd will embed itself in carpet like a pine needle.

This got it all.

I'll let the pics do the talking.

Small, compact, light weight and portable.
Works like it's supposed to.

Simple: It's worth every penny and more.

:cool:Who carries tha Metro-Vac? How many H.P.'s? What did it cost? How about a pic of said Vac? :dcrules My Craftsmans 5.0 is starting to get tha Death Rattle.

It's on my purchase list for sure.

And I know what you mean, until recently I had a german shephard/chow mix for 16 years and her shedding would laughed at my shopvac

Ronkh, your post leads me to think that the Metro picked up the hair unaided, as in you used no brushes or other tools to vac up the hair. True?

But I'll see your GS or Chow or Golden hair and raise you Boxer or Dashound hair. :D

i've owned one for about 3 yrs. now and i love it, i use it after i wash my car to blow the water off my wheels and tires and any nooks and crannys. i bought the the turbo head with it as it works well when vacuuming.:rockon

I would love to hear some more feedback on Metro Vacs. Are they really that much better than my 6 1/2 horse shop vac. Would love to know more before I decide to buy.

The only thing i used was crevice tool and carpet tool. No brushes, nada. This was all the vacume.

I've got the turbo brush. It's still warpped, never used. I'm afraid to useit for blowing off the car after a wash. Since I use it as a vacume, I'd be afraid of spraying crap back on it.

Yes ! Small and easy to handle

That is a timely comment. I've never used a blower equipped vac for blowing because of the same reservation. I still have the same reservation. Have you ever "filtered" the outgoing air to verify that no very small particulate is not being expelled?

Another question is regarding the hose material. This is a common point of failure for any of the vacs I've owned. All the bending/crimping/tugging/exposure to heat and cold in the garage eventually takes its toll. Are quality replacements readily available and reasonably priced? The same quality question would apply to the tools. It looks like the package Troy offers is pretty inclusive.

How are the sound levels? With that 6' hose this thing is going to be located pretty close at hand. What is the length of the power cord?

As always, I appreciate any and all information supplied. :bigups

They have extension hoses available.
I ordered 2. One for vac extension, and one if used as blower so any dirt in hose wouldnt spray on car.

The vac is filtered, but I still havent used it as a blower, I just reach for leaf blower if I feel like drying that way.

Elec cord is only about 6-9 feet, ut hey, thats what thy make extension cords for.

Since I have had one of these for over 5 years, maybe I should chime in.
1. I really like the unit.
2. It has unbelievable suction.
3. The small size is convenient, but the dirt capacity is also small and that might create a problem for someone doing a lot of vehicles.
4. It is a dry vac and isn't intended to be used under wet conditions. It is a handy thing to have, but I don't consider it a replacement for a good wet/dry vac.
5. I have only used it as a vacuum, not as a blower.

That is an important element of the equation. I already new it, and it is fairly well documented (I believe) but it someone new were just glossing over the thread or the product description I guess it could go unnoticed.

Like most of us, I'm always on the lookout on tools that not only make my job easier, but do a better job as well. I'm a firm believer that when it comes to carpet/upholstery cleaning the vacuum step is probably the most important to getting very good results. Thus my interest in this product. Considering between this or for more money the Fein wet/dry vac.
