Menzerna or Poorboys

I have Poorbys SSR 2.5. It did not seem to the job on a black BMW X-3. I was wondering if the Menzerna twins would be better, or just IP alone. Truck has tons of swirls and lots of minor scratches.

Thanks

I have never used the SSRs, but have used IP and FPII alot. I believe IP and SSR 2.5 are about the same cut. What pad are you using?

Here is SSr 2.5 followed with SSR 1. (Makita roatry with Edge 2000 Blue pads) I believe 2.5 needs to be followed with a lighter polish.

ask me for more pics if you want.

Any reason why Menzerna or Poorboy's only?

I would have to say the Menzerna twins if I had to choose with what you have given us. IP will knock out the swirls, and FPII will know out the haze and finish down very nice.

(If I had my choice, Optimum Hyper Compound, Prime Strong)

gmblack and I used the Menzerna line on my wife's Acura and it came out PERFECT. I think we used the 106 though (right?) on the paintwork as it was in pretty good shape to start. I have a beater Dodge truck that needed a good bit of polishing. I tried the IP with a wool pad at 1100 RPMS and found that it was either taking too long or it was just not cutting it. I swapped to the SSR2.5 and bumped the speed up a tad with the wool pad again and things came right out. I have not carefully examined the surface, but I did not follow it with a polish. I don't see any mrring from the 2.5. All in all, it is my personal feeling with somewhat limited experience, that the 2.5 is a bit more harsh than the IP. I use the 2.5 on the tough jobs and the Menzerna on the lighter jobs/softer clearcoats.

If anyone thinks I am off here, please let me know. I am still builing my opinion on this comparison to some degree.

I think it all comes down to who is doing it, how trained their eye is, what they see in the paint, and what they are willing to accept as a final result. I have both product lines but dont have lenghty experience with either.

I was with a relative on Sunday who thinks he always has the cleanest car in the world, he has been a compulsive "waxer" since 1966. He always buys black cars and waxes them obsessively believing he is doing good. When I take a look at his car and I see a million swirls and scratches, he says I am crazy and the car is perfect.

Someone with a trained eye may see better results with "x" than "y". I read posts of people applying Natty's after SSR 2.5, while I looked at my car after SSR 2.5 and still saw the need for SSR 1 or a finer polish before applying Natty's. I think it is hard to get a good information on this over the interenet. All eyes are different.

first offf GREAT POST....

next i have both even the Opt trio I hate to say it when working with different paint and finishes you tend to need more products.. Anyway I like PB for PC work i can neve get it to finish out right when i'm working the rotary... Everything will work good when we allow it to work.. but there is a fine line between working it till finish and not working enough..

Good luck..

All eyes might be different but I think we might just have twins for eyes!;) My eyes have me locked on Menzerna polishes and a little Optimum on the side.:D
