menzerna IP and final finish - useable by hand???

the reason i ask is because i am going to detail my car this weekend with the PC using menzerna IP and final polish, but

i was going to tape the crown lines (edges--bent metal) because they are clear coat weak.

for these parts can i use by hand or is the menzerna stricly for PC/Rotary etc??????

or does it not matter?

You will never achieve the results by hand that you would with a PC or Rotary...you can't generate enough heat by hand for the polish to "cut" the clear coat down. This polishes were designed for PC/Rotary application, but im sure some people have applied by hand.



Also, the crown lines or edges, don't nessecarily have less clear coat, the PC or Rotary will cut through it quicker b/c it is raised and not a level surface. Same idea when you sand a flat surface, the sanding block will sand this raised spots faster/greater than the rest of the flat surface. Follow?



If your really worried about the edges, then yea tape them...but i recommend you hit every part of your car with a PC, just dont apply as much pressure and dont stay on the edge for a very long time...
