I was just reading an article about the lc pad review. I have been using an ip with a medium cutting pad at 1000rpm followed by final polish II at 1000rpm. Should i be concerned about removing too much clear with this method. I am using a polish pad for the second pass with the final ppolish? The car looks great. Am i really removing a noticeable amount of clear in the long run? Should i just use the intensive polish when i must and simplu use the final polish with a polish pad to preserve the clear and get decent results?

I wouldnt worry to much about it.

And yes, you only use aggresive products and pads when you NEED to, not "just becuase".

Experiance will tell you.

I know its soft when my least aggressive combo leaves micro-marring or when deep imperfections can be removed easily with a moderately aggressive combo.

I have a TL, and used a PC for the first time about a month ago using menz IP. I used it a few times on one section with an orange/yellow pad. It did took most of the swirls out, but the deeper ones are still there when you look under a light.

I did a search to find a different polish a step up from IP and tried SFX-1. It got rid or I would say 85% of that deeper scratch (swirls) off of my roof.

At first I thought IP was strong since it said "Intense Polish" but actually it's a light polish which shouldn't harm your clearcoat using a PC. I used this chart here that helped me which other compounds polishes I need...

how can you determine a hard from soft paint? just buy brand ie honda soft bmw hard?

It changes from car to car, even within the same brand range, so it's always best to start with something less aggressive and see how it affects the finish - how much swirling/scratches does it correct, how much micromarring, hologramming etc.
