I just used Menzerna for the first time this week. I used the IP (by hand) to touch-up some cat scratch tracks on the hood of my 2002 Passat, worked great with little dusting and followed with FP and Glanz Wax. Looked awesome but my paint is new so I can't put too much credit on the polish.
Next, I used the IP to work on my mother-in-laws '99 Toyota Avalon. I guess you could consider it a "light" color metallic beige. Her car has NEVER been polished and had a fair amount of overspray from a previous paint repair on the front, not to mention lots of scratches that could be felt by fingernail all over and the finish just looked dry (oxidation). I started by claying the surface and then began working on the roof by PC using a yellow Lake Country 6" pad. I notice an immediate amount of white dust. My question....is this the polish dusting or just the oxidation that is being removed? I'm thinking and hoping oxidation. The finish turned out really nice and squeaky and it looked like the swirl marks were removed but of course some of the deeper scratches remained. I thought the IP removed pretty easy for me, much better than the 3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound I also experimented with. I buffed till the product was almost dry and then wiped down with a MF dampened with a spritz of 50/50 alcohol water solution. I would like to try something more abrasive on the scratches though, it bugs me that they are there (OCD maybe?). Any suggestions? I saw that Menzerna also is offering the PowerGloss Compound but I don't think I need 32 oz. I was thinking maybe ScratchX but I'm not sure about how much more abrasive it is than the Menzerna IP.
Thanks for any opinions on my ramblings!:wavey
