Mentorship for a newbie

Hello all!

I am coming out of my lurking phase here on autopia and would like to get some assistance. I have been a good little newbie, searching the forums and reading all I can find. My issue is this: I have what I believe is etching on the paint of my black Jetta. It has been there for years and I have finally gotten sick of it, well, enough to actually do something about it. I would like a professional to take a look at it and diagnose the problem. There is only so much I can do by reading and looking at pictures. Ideally, a professional would take a look at the paint and at the same time educate me on the finer points of detailing. I feel that this would accelerate my learning curve and make detailing even more enjoyable for me than it already is. I look forward to hearing from somebody who can assist me in this adventure. BTW, I am located in Baltimore. Thanks ahead of time.

i am a 100% autopian trained detailer and i'm not going to lie, i have the bling blingest truck i've seen in my area. it can be done. don't be scared, you can read all day on autopia, grab some polish and get your feet wet.

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to do the best I can with my trusty PC, which I have owned now for better than two years. I never really used it until we got the TSX, and now all experimentation occurs on the Jetta. My pictures of the etching do not show it well, hence the desire for first hand help. If nothing comes of it, I can still say that my cars are the nicest looking in the parking lot
