Meguiars support is Great!

Went to detail a couple of vehicles yesterday and took along my trusty battery operated Meguiars polisher - helps in removing swirls and scratches with DACP. Really like that tool! While working on a 03 Cobra the battery started to die so I switched batteries and found a problem with the battery. So today I call Meguiars today for support. After a explaining what was happening to the support person, he told me he would send me a replacement battery. That is support and why I use Meguiars. People online talk about all the other companies, but very few have the support like Meguiars. Great Job Meguiars!!!!

I bought the cordless orbital polisher but had to return it as the battery died whenever I tried to use it. It did seem to be a ot slower than the PC speed-wise and I've seen other threads which say that it's not as good for using with polishes etc.

That said, I know Jesstzn has (or had?) a similar Simoniz cordless polisher and you only have to see the photos to figure that it works for some people very well!

Ya... thats why i wanted to see the pix of it to see if it was the same one rebranded. It is a lot slower than the PC and with patience works for the low level home detailer. Since I got the PC I pretty well use it for applying paste and liquid waxes and quickie spot touchups. And I imagine if your a pro detailer that does most by hand it would be great for trouble spots. I used it on a Honda hood with Menzerna IP to take out scouring pad marks. Batteries do have good longivity.

I do 95% of my work by hand, but sometimes you need a little assistance. That is why I use the battery operated polisher. It is not as fast as a pc, but when you have small areas with scratches or swirl marks it works great. It is real nice for a home owner that worries about damaging the paint. I like the pad size as it is 6.5" pad. Here is the Meguiars link.

It is called Meguiar's Cordless Orbital Buffer.

I have a pc for the really big jobs that have a lot of deep scratches which I have only used a few times. On a 1-10 rating, I would give that one an 8 since it is portable and real easy to use.

Looks like the same one rebranded ... now get this .. its the first thing I have seen where OUR price is better ( Same price = 20%+ lower due to currency exchange ) We don't get the fancy bag but comes with accessory pads. They have them on sale often for $69.95

rlspringer,

As a detailing professional I have been using Meguiar's Professional line of detailing products exclusively since I started my own detailing business in 1986.

Neither me nor my customers would have it any other way.

I think that meguiars has one of the BEST customer service departments by far! Everytime I call the either to order products or ask questions they are very informed and know how to solve a problem you might have and they are enjoyable to talk to.

Oh yeah I don't work for them.

I've seen that Meguiar's cordless in person and for the life of me it looks like a clone of the Simoniz (ie, Wen) except with several Meguiar's accessories and a carrying bag.

I can't remember any of the specs, and a server meltdown blew away some threads discussing this machine, but everyone seemed to agree that it is awfully similar to this: http://wenproducts.com/buffers_polishers_4020.asp

I own the cordless one made by Meguiar's and although it looks like the WEN, it's a little different. According to meguiar's cust. support, their cordless polisher is made by Nikota. I think the velcro plate is larger and the battery lasts a bit longer too (also, a slight difference in weight). If you look carefully at the tip of the handle, you can see that the battery for the Meguiar's polisher is larger and shaped a little differently.

It's convenient to use when applying glazes, waxes and sealants, but it's too weak for any type of paint correction. It does not come anywhere NEAR replacing or doing some of the things my PC 7336 can. However, because it's so light and convenient, I prefer it over my PC when just adding a layer of glaze and sealant. In fact, this weekend, I applied Finesse-It II followed by Mother's Reflections on one of my cars with great results. It didn't anything for swirls......however, the FI-II application really brought out the shine.

One thing I like about Meguiars is that they will replace a defective product for free...Even if you buy it at a local store...Their DA Polisher (PC) has a lifetime warranty with it too....Can't beat that!... :xyxthumbs
