Meguiars SofBuff Pads only 8"??

I found a local store that carries these, but they are only 8". Can I use this with my 6" backing pad on my PC?

I am just worried about vibration if I don't have the right backing pad or counterweight.

Thanks.

They are available in 6.5" size.

Don't know how the 8" would work on the smaller backing plate. I think I would try to find the 6.5" pads.:nixweiss

They are available from Meguiar's as well as several other on-line vendors. Your local store can probably order them as well. Meguiar's has a kit of two polishing, one finishing, for $24.95 plus $5.95 shipping. Might save a lot of running around.

No, all their Softbuff pads come in 6.5" size too. You can see the part #'s for these in the last 1/2 of the thread in my sig. If you replace the "6" at the end with a "0", it specifies an 8" pad.

Ask if they can get these maybe.

Damn, I was hoping I wouldn't have to mess with shipping.

Thanks for the info! Maybe they'll beable to get a 6" finishing pad (that's the only pad I need!) fairly soon, or refer me to someone who has it in stock.

I found a 32 ounce bottle of IHG for $15 bucks, which sure seems like a good deal. I just need the finishing pad. ;)

You really don't need to use the PC with Imperial Hand Glaze, (IHG). In fact, it might be easier by hand.

I want to use a glaze with my PC though... so I may have to look elsewhere, although I wanted to stick with all 3M products.

Other than the IHG and the Finishing Glaze, do they have anything else?

I thought I had read of a lot of people on here using a PC with IHG?

Most supply shops are pretty nice people. They may never had a request in the past and may not be aware they exist or what the part number is. Just work with them and it should be easy enough.

i.e 7000 pad is 8", a 7006 pad is the 6.5" version. At least that what I remember from memory. I can't go to the Meguiars to confirm as my IE5.5 is just about to crash literally... General Protection has been loaded :-( I'll need to shut down IE before I can surf any other page ... DARN that Microsoft.

While I realize you said you only need the finishing pad, you can order from Meg's and still make out ok if you buy more. They have a three-pack of 6.5" pads: 2 polishing, one finishing, for like $20-25. So with shipping, it would be like regular price. Get a few other things you may need like foam hand applicators (12 for $5.50), some tire swipes, or maybe a chenille wash sponge (they are bigger than any other I've seen at 6" x 10") and the shipping won't be such a big deal.

I've noticed Total Auto Care doesn't sell the 6.5'ers too. You might be able to get them to order them for you, though. That way you shouldn't have to pay shipping.
